Review/Giveaway ~ Lost in Me by Lexi Ryan

Lost in Me (Here and Now, #1)Title: Lost in Me
Author: Lexi Ryan
Series: Here and Now #1
Genre: NA Contemporary Romance
Published: April 7th 2014

The last thing I remember is having drinks at Brady’s and trying to avoid eye-contact with my life-long crush—the gorgeous, unattainable Maximilian Hallowell. They tell me that was a year ago, but I have no memories of anything since then. What I do have is this ring on my finger that Max says he gave me, and this much-thinner body I’ve dreamed of most of my life. Aside from a case of retrograde amnesia, everything seems almost...perfect.

But the deeper I immerse myself into this new world of mine—planning a wedding to a man I don't remember dating, attempting to run a business I don't remember starting—the clearer it becomes that nothing is as it seems. Do I have the life I’ve always wanted or is it a facade propped up by secrets I don't even know I have?

I need answers before I marry Max, and the only person who seems to have them is the angry, tatted, sexy-as-sin rocker Nate Crane. And Nate wants me for himself.

I started this book one evening and was up in the late hours of the night because I was so captivated by the story! It was just that good for me! The concept of this story was well put together and I loved following Hanna as she tried to make sense of the last 11 months that she doesn’t remember!!

Lost in Me starts with the Prologue, which we soon learn is the last thing that Hanna remembers since her fall. She is confused about her life but with help from her new fiancĂ© and her sister Lizzy, in particular, she adapts to her new life.

Slowly, Hanna’s memories return in pieces and usually without prompting; she spends time with Lizzy and they worked together puzzling things out. This is the part of the story I really enjoyed, as I was trying to work things out with them. The one thing that did get her blood pumping was waking up to a stranger in her bed. That is when she realises there are more pieces that she is missing and is determined to get to the bottom of it.

From what I read, Hanna’s personality changed a lot over those missing months and now she is back to her former self. I liked how she could look back and see things with new eyes. She seems to be a stronger person too, and takes things into her own hands, unless it has to do with her mother… I like who she is now, even though there are pieces missing, but she has the support around her and the determination to figure it out.

I love how the author touches on an issue that affects some women all over the world. Those insecurities lead to some harsh decisions that can endanger your health and well being. Although Hanna is unsure of the full extent, she doesn’t want to go back to the way things were. With her memory loss, she tries to turn things around, but you can still see her struggling.

I LOVED how this story unfolded and how it kept me in suspense. There are plenty of sizzling scenes, character growth and I have so many questions left unanswered. Every time Hanna got a memory back I was on the edge of my seat, eager to see what she remembered and whether it was going to be good or bad! Her sisters are from the original series, but I don’t think theor story affects Hanna’s in any way. The ending has left me hanging, with more questions, so I am keen to get my hands on the next book in June!

Once a college English professor, I now write full time. I live in rural Indiana, where, when I’m not writing, I get to hang out with my husband and two kids–a six-year-old boy and a two-year-old hellion, er, girl. Not surprisingly, reading and writing remain my favorite activities, though both come in bits and pieces these days, not the big hunks of time I enjoyed before I had children. When I’m feeling virtuous, I like to go running (I use that word liberally. I’m really, really slow) or do yoga. Don’t worry, I’m always careful to balance out such activities with a hearty serving of ice cream or a chocolate martini.
