Masked Innocence (Innocence, #2)Title: Masked Innocence

The man was sinful. It wasn't just the looks that made him dangerous, it was the cocky confidence that dominated every move, every touch. And the frustrating yet ecstatic fact about the whole package was that he could back it all up…

Julia Campbell never knows what to expect with win-at-all-costs Brad De Luca. And she's starting to like it that way. She gave up safe, conventional relationships when she let the elite divorce attorney seduce her into his world. Now that he's determined to strip her naked of every inhibition, she's in danger of falling too deep and too fast.

But their affair begins to feel even more dangerous when a murder leaves a trail of suspicion that points straight to the mob…and Brad. Trusting a man with a bad reputation and a past full of secrets seems like a mistake. But when she's forced to make a choice, the consequences will take her further than she could ever have imagined.

Masked Innocence is the second book in the Innocence series and I was told that it can be read as a standalone. While I did enjoy this book, I think I would've understood the whole story better if I had read the first book, so I could see the developing relationship between the main characters in the book.

Brad and Julia are a great couple to read about. They have great chemistry and are comfortable with each other, despite the age and society differences. They often push the boundaries on their sexual relationship because of Brad’s interests. When a death occurs at their workplace, where Brad is a partner and Julia is an intern, Julia unravels some secrets that ultimately put her life in danger.

Julia is a lot younger than Brad and seems to have fallen hard for Brad. She is willing to try new things with him, and even attends a sex party. You can see that she has deep feelings for him, and her witty attitude is something that he likes about her. He pushes his buttons and has managed to evade his walls. I liked Brad; he is confidant and knows what he wants. Julia is someone who really intrigues him and he wants her close at all times. When he realises Julia's life is in danger, he re-evaluates his life and what he needs.

While I did enjoy this story, I did miss the developing relationship between these two. I felt I missed out on getting to know these characters and what they have been through in the short time they have known each other. The characters are well developed however, and the plot had me guessing the direction of the story. Some mysteries were unravelled that would make or break their relationship, and I am glad they are able to communicate well to each other. I would like to go back and start this series from the beginning and would certainly be intrigued to see what happens next for this couple!!
