Sookie has a murder investigation on her hands.
A young girl has died at a vampire party - and it looks as though her lover, Eric, might be responsible. Eric swears he didn't do it, the police don't believe him, and even Sookie isn't so sure. Nor is she inclined to take his word for it, not having caught him enjoying the victim's blood minutes before she was killed.
But something strange is going on. Why had Sookie been asked to come to the fateful party a few minutes early - just to catch Eric in the act? And why had the victim spiked her own blood before approaching Eric? Was it simply because she wanted to be irresistable, or was it something more sinister?
Sookie will have to find out ... but it's the worst moment to investigate, as her Fae family are having troubles of their own and Sookie is, inevitably, drawn in. And there is one last complication. The cluviel dor her grandmother left her. It will grant her one wish, which could fulfil Sookie's heart's desire. The only problem is, she still doesn't know what - or who - her heart truly desires ...
I have waited a long time to finish the Sookie Stackhouse series and decided now was as good a time as any!! I have really enjoyed the Sookie Stackhouse journey; meeting all the amazing characters and going on each journey, so I was excited to see how it would all come to an end. Deadlocked isn’t as action packed as some of the books in the series, but it was an emotional ride for Sookie.
There is always drama when it comes to Sookie and her world. While she is at Eric’s there is a death and the police are involved. It is part of a big conspiracy that brings all her supernatural friends together. With everything going on around her, I felt that Sookie was depressed a lot of the time. She tried to carry on as usual and did her normal routine each day, but it is taxing on her. She is normally very bubbly, but not so much in this book.
Sookie is struggling with everything supernatural and it has finally caught up with her. She is still in a relationship with Eric, but is seems a bit strained. Her family and friends are moving on and are planning their own lives and families, where she seems to be standing still.
One thing I did notice was that things look like they are being tied up in preparation for the final book. It has been a difficult journey for Sookie and I am curious to see what will become of her; who she will end up with, will she get a HEA and who will be there for her? I do enjoy being in Sookies world, but this was not one of my favourite books in the series. I think that Charlaine has done a great job tying the series together and I really hope the series goes out with a bang!!
Awesome review! I loved this series so much and was so sad when it ended. Deadlocked was a bit down I noticed that as well, and I worked out why it takes so long for couples to get together in books, the hotness for eric and sookie failed a bit for me in this book :( and Eric is my favourite. I am glad that you enjoyed it and I can't wait to see what you think of Dead Ever After.
ReplyDeleteI really need to start this series sometime.. where oh where am I going to find the time! I hope this series finished with a bag too :)
ReplyDeleteChanzie @ Mean Who You Are.
I have checked out several of her books from the library and have enjoyed them. Guess I will have to add some more to my reading list. ^_^
ReplyDeleteAw such a bittersweet feeling when books start to wrap up for final book and then even more so when the last book gets there
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you enjoyed being in Sookie's world even if you didn't like the story as a whole, Naomi. I am so very far behind in this series (I've only read 3) but I've always enjoyed being in Sookie's world too. She is a great character - and I like all the supernaturals as well. I hope the next one rocks!
ReplyDeleteI loved this series Naomi. It was one of the first ones that got me reading a few years back. But I just can't for the life of me get myself to finish it. I have this one (refuse to buy that last one) but just can't knowing what's gonna happen with the series, ya know?
ReplyDeleteI agree with you that the last books in the series weren't as strong as the beginning. However, getting to know Sookie and know more about everything that makes her tick is not a bad thing :)
ReplyDeleteAnd Eric is one of my all-time favorite characters - especially after I could imagine Alexander Skarsgard as Eric *grins*

This is one series that I haven't tackled because I'm just not sure I want to start a series with SO many books in it. I don't know if I can handle it! :-)
ReplyDeleteI have loved this series so much, but I can't believe how the series is going out.... I want so much to happen, sigh. I want so much from Eric, and he needed to step up and be the centuries old man he should be... anyway, we don't all get what we want.
ReplyDeleteHmmm.... well, i give you no promises!! *wink*
ReplyDeleteHaha!! Yes you will. I am one of those that MUST finish a series, it just takes time!
ReplyDeleteI know, but I want to change the ending... add more books!!
ReplyDeleteThe supernatural world is amazing and I have loved Sookie. Sad to see it all end!
ReplyDeleteIt was one of the firsts for me too. And I know what you mean.... that final book.... My hair is growing back now!!
ReplyDeleteHehehe... yes, that is a good thing! And I loved Eric too. I wanted more from him though!
ReplyDelete13.... not as many as some series!! Lol It has been good to finally finish it though!!
ReplyDeleteIt really did seem as if Sookie started to get more stressed and depressed as this series goes on. I found the last book frustrating, but I can't wait to see what you think.
ReplyDeletethis sound like it has a very long triangle? wow, after so many books and still no clear answer? I have to admit, I applaud you :D
ReplyDeleteYes, I found it frustrating too..... but not everyone can be happy!!
ReplyDeleteSookie has had numerous lovers, so it really could've gone a number of ways.... Thanks Lily!!
