Ruin by Clarissa Wild was released last week and it was such a touching read! I wish I brought this review to you earlier, because you can tell it was an emotional book to write for the author!

Clarissa Wild has become one of my must read authors, so when I saw her newest release was coming, and based on some true events, I knew I had to get my hands on it. Ruin was a heartbreaking but beautiful read that I will remember for a long time to come.

Maybell and Alexander were unique characters that I loved getting to know. Maybell was a dancer but she had other issues that made her stand out and while going through high school it can make life difficult. She loved to read and had a passion to write stories, however her parents couldn't see a future in it. Alexander also struggled at school, but I soon saw that he had a hard time at home. It was sad to see him go through such hard times and how it affected him emotionally.

They came together under difficult circumstances, but Maybell and Alexander had more in common than either of them realised. It was sweet to see them build a friendship together, and get to know one another and to develop romantic feelings for one another. I could see that Alexander was still holding back and I knew it would come between them. Maybell had so much fight in her and was willing to step up for what her heart wanted, even though it was so hard for her.

Maybell and Alexander's story was a difficult one, and I thought that Clarissa Wild delivered this story perfectly. I knew some of the true events she added to the story, and I was surprised by some of the others. Ruin brought out so much emotion—sadness, agony, hope and happiness—that were woven carefully into the story, and touched on some delicate issues that will leave an impact on your life.
