Review ~ Apollyon by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Title: Apollyon
Author: Jennifer L. Armentrout
Series: Covenant #4
Genre: YA Paranormal Romance
Published: April 4th 2013

Fate isn’t something to mess with… and now, neither is Alex.

Alex has always feared two things: losing herself in the Awakening and being placed on the Elixir. But love has always been stronger than Fate, and Aiden St. Delphi is willing to make war on the gods—and Alex herself—to bring her back.

The gods have killed thousands and could destroy entire cities in their quest to stop Seth from taking Alex’s power and becoming the all-powerful God Killer. But breaking Alex’s connection to Seth isn’t the only problem. There are a few pesky little loopholes in the whole “an Apollyon can’t be killed” theory, and the only person who might know how to stop the destruction has been dead for centuries.

Finding their way past the barriers that guard the Underworld, searching for one soul among countless millions, and then somehow returning will be hard enough. Alex might be able to keep Seth from becoming the God Killer… or she might become the God Killer herself.

It might sound like I am raving about each book in this series, but I tell you that this was another fantastic instalment! After reading the novella, I had to get into Apollyon to see if Alex would come to her senses. It was interesting being inside her head and experiencing the struggles she had being the Apollyon, the connection with Seth and her love of Aiden.

Alex has really grown as a character throughout the series, but she did more than ever in this book. She has a lot to face in the future and so much rests on her shoulders and whether she success or not. This journey took us all over the country and the group was able to get a lot of answers. There were guest appearances from a lot of gods and each one gave more depth to the story.

I have loved every moment of being in Jennifer L. Armentrout’s world. There are so many twists and turns thrown in, that you think everything is ok and she throws something at you. I was able to get a lot of answers myself in this book, and I am keen to see how it all ends in Sentinal! If you have waited, like me, to read this series, I suggest you get onto it now… As there is a NA spinoff coming soon!
