Is the past really ever the past?

It's really hard to get into some details on this book without giving away spoilers, I'm sitting here trying to tell you my thoughts, but it is hard not to give anything away whether you've read the first series or not. Even when I began reading the book I was a little confused about what was going on until all the details were on the table. Then I had one of those 'Ahhh' moments, and things made sense. The passion between them is still strong, but a few confusing conversations has Brooke on edge once again.
Brooke annoyed me a little in this one because she really was overthinking a lot of things and I wish she would go straight to Jett about her issues. She keeps bottling things up, and although she has her reasons, I thought with everything that they have been through and what they will share in the future, she would have more trust in the man she loves. Jett is as mysterious as ever and he's still that alpha male type, trying to protect what is his. I know that he does so much just to keep Brooke safe, but he also needs to let Brooke in. Most of the issues that arise in this were because they refused to communicate.
I really did enjoy this first installment in the series, there is something going on that Jett is hiding. There were hints of betrayal and danger revealed towards the end and it had me on the edge of my seat. I am looking forward to seeing where things are going to go now.
