Review/Giveaway ~ The Phoenix Campaign by Heidi Joy Tretheway Grace Colton #2

I was unable to bring you my review for The Phoenix Campaign last week, so I am bringing it to you today. It was a fantastic read and I am dying for the third and final book!

Title: The Phoenix Campaign
Author: Heidi Joy Tretheway
Series: Grace Colton #2
Genre: Adult Erotic Romance
Published: April 20th 2015

Fans of Scandal, House of Cards, and The Good Wife will love Grace Colton...

U.S. Congresswoman Grace Colton is the most famous woman in politics—and the loneliest—until a drawling, sexy stranger offers her one night: no strings and no regrets. And it rocks her world.

Grace wakes to an empty hotel room and a phone call. The dark horse for the 2016 presidential election, Senator Shep Conover, is considering her as his vice presidential running mate.

Before she can be selected, Grace must be vetted and coached by Shep’s political consultant, Jared Rankin, who already knows too many intimate details about her. He’s Mr. One-Night Stand.

Grace is torn: play nice with Jared to join the senator’s ticket, or play hardball and back the slick frontrunner? As the Democratic National Convention approaches, Grace must decide where her loyalties lie and if she can trust Jared with her future—and her heart.

The Phoenix Candidate is an adult erotic romance recommended for mature readers.

After reading The Phoenix Candidate, I had to dive right into the second book to see what happened next with Grace. It seemed her life was on track and she had the support of an amazing man. But one little hunch changes the game again and she is not sure what to do now.

Grace is still that confident and determined girl, but she is hesitant in The Phoenix Campaign because she is unsure of what Jared wants in the future. He has had it rough in the past and finds it extremely difficult to trust people and let them close, therefore, Grace keeps this huge secret that could make or break them. I could understand why she did it, but I wanted her to take the chance with Jared, as he has let her in more than anyone in his life before.

The relationship between Grace and Jared began well, but there were a few shaky moments, one of which shattered my heart! I wanted to shake Jared and wrap Grace in my arms! I am so glad that she had her new friend Sasha to hold things together. There were a few heart-stopping moments that happened between some of the other characters that I have come to love, and my jaw hit the floor a number of times.

I enjoyed the political aspect of this book again too; travelling over the country, making appearances and doing interviews. Grace stands up and shows how strong she can be, proving to America that she is a forcible woman who is not afraid to stand up for her beliefs.

The Phoenix Campaign was a fantastic second book in the Grace Colton series. Heidi Joy Tretheway ties all aspects of family life together with that of a woman working hard in politics. It’s an amazing read, I love absorbing all the words and I feel that I am right there in Grace’s world. I CANNOT WAIT for The Phoenix Decision… I need to see what happens next!

Heidi Joy is a sucker for campfires, craft cocktails, and steamy romance in books and real life. She sings along with musicals (badly), craves French carbs, and buys plane tickets the way some women buy shoes.

Her first career as a journalist took Heidi behind the scenes with politicians, rock stars, chefs, and detectives, all of whom inspire her stories. Heidi Joy is currently working on her eighth book from her home in Portland, Oregon. She adores hearing from readers at author.heidi@gmail.com.

  2. Great review. Jared sounds like the kind of guy I would love reading about as well as the main character, Grace. I have never read a book based around politics, so I am very interested in that aspect as well. Plus the book sounds like it would be a sexy read :)

  3. Well, it was worth waiting for the review, because it's one of your best. Grace sounds like a beautifully complicated character. I agree, the political aspect has such a pull in any well written story. It's like salt in the food :)

  5. It was a sexy read and I can't believe how much I loved it. It wasn't political driven either. So much fun!

Gah! Naomi, I really want to read this series. Like NOW! I just finished Off the Record a few days ago and it too revolved around politics. That this one involves a FEMALE politician has me chomping at the bit. (do y'all use that expression?) Hmm, just may have to use a bit of my bday cash...

  10. It was a great read, considering that I'm not even American, and have zero interest in polotics! The characters were fun and had sizzling chemistry!
