Until Harry by L.A. Casey ~ Audiobook Review & Quote-tastic (@AuthorLACasey)

L.A. Casey is one of those authors I love to read, but I just can't find the time! I managed to grab her latest book, Until Harry, on audio so I could still read her work while doing other things, and it turned out to be a terrific read!

Coming home is hard for Lane. Hard because her beloved uncle Harry has died suddenly, but also because of him. Kale.

Kale Hunt has been her best friend since childhood. But it was never that simple. He was Lane’s reason for leaving home and moving to New York. Seeing him with someone else, in love with someone else, shouldn’t have hurt. But it did. It really, really did. So she upped sticks and left, started a new life and cut herself off from her past.

But now she’s back and all the feelings are right there. As if she had never left.

Emotions are running high, and tragedy has a funny way of bringing people together. But is Lane reading the signs right? Are they still just friends, or is there something more?

I've read a few of L.A. Casey's previous work and usually there's a fair bit of humour woven throughout the story. In Until Harry she showed me that she can write serious story lines too. She managed to drag my emotions out—making my chest ache, bringing tears to the eyes and gave me hope that Lane would be able to find her path in life.

Lane returned back to York after the passing of her Uncle Harry. She had been gone for six years and had left for the US on bad terms with her family. Over the next few days I experienced what it was like for Lane to be back with her family, but she also went down memory lane and we found out all the details that lead up to her leaving; all the love, loss and pain that she experienced broke my heart.

I liked getting to know Lane and Kale growing up. They were best friends from such a young age and had a bond that was hard to break. He looked after her at school and was there when she needed him. I could see that their feelings for one another were becoming complicated the older they became, and it was hard for either of them to face it head on. Lane also struggled with her appearance at times, and school girls can be mean at that age, but it was sweet that Kale would step in and tell her exactly what any girl would love to hear from a boy.

It was great to see Lane rekindle relationships with her family, close friends and to even begin a few new friendships. She had suffered so much and was willing to sacrifice her own happiness for the one person she loved the most. She's a driven girl and once she made a decision, she stuck with it. The journey back to her home land and for happiness was a difficult one, but I loved being there for every step!

Until Harry was a beautiful read and I found it difficult to stop listening to as I was immersed into the world that L.A. Casey created. It was the first book I'd listened to narrated by Heather Wilds; I found her a little difficult to begin with, but it didn't take me long to adjust to her voice and the accents she portrayed, and I thought she delivered the story perfectly. Well done L.A. Casey... You are a brilliant storyteller and I cannot wait to see what you create for us next!

Hehe... I thought this was an eye opening moment for Lane, she had no idea!

“Since when do you look at me like that?” I asked, my breathing becoming a little rapid. Kale’s eyes flashed with fire as he grinned at me.
“Since you wore those skinny jeans and I saw you in your bra two months before you turned sixteen. You started looking more like a woman than a little girl.”
