Sing Your Heart Out by Crystal Kaswell ~ Review & Teaser Tuesday (@CrystalKaswell)

Sing Your Heart Out is the fist in the Sinful Serenade series, and I enjoyed meeting Meg and Miles. It was a good read, touching on some hard subjects, as I watched the relationship between Meg and Miles grow.

Good girls don't date rock stars. They certainly don't have rock star f-buddies.

Still a virgin at 21, Meg Smart walks a straight and narrow path. She aces her classes, excels at her part time job, and carefully avoids trouble—no drinks, no drugs, and especially, no boyfriends.

Rock star Miles Webb doesn't do "boyfriend." He skips over intimacy and love in favor of easy distraction—a beautiful woman under him, screaming his name.

Meg is drawn to the pain in his gorgeous, tortured voice. But the man she hears on the radio is nothing like the player she meets at a mutual friend's house party. When she walks in on one of his trysts, she's embarrassed enough to die. His merciless teasing leaves her blushed and frustrated, but she's intrigued by his wit, his confidence, his casual offer to give her a night she'll never forget.

Neither of them wants a relationship, so they strike up an arrangement: They'll be friends with benefits, nothing more, nothing less. There are only three rules: no secrets, no feelings, no falling in love.

Only neither one of them can quite abide by the terms.

I found this one whilst browsing Amazon a while back and thought I’d give it a try. I quite like Rockstar reads and was keen to try a new author. Meg and Miles were from different worlds, but had more in common than either of them realised.

Meg has struggled over the past few months, but was focused on her grades and becoming a doctor. She didn’t have time for a relationship but was thinking that it might be time to lose her virginity. Whilst at a party, she walked in on a guy and a girl going at it, which I thought was hilarious! She was startled and he was all cocky about it. She saw him later on at the party and the flirty banter was amusing to watch as he tried desperately to make her uncomfortable.

Miles was what I expected of a rockstar; confident, cheeky and gorgeous. It was no secret that he wanted Meg and offered to be her first time, promising plenty of pleasure. The no just sex rule seemed to be a good idea, but I could see that they were both developing feelings and were overstepping the rules. He was also holding back on Meg, pushing her to talk about her issues, but giving her no details about himself, which we both found infuriating. However, seeing them together was fun. Miles treated Meg well and wanted to do so much with her.

I was hoping to really love this one, but I’m afraid that I didn’t. I love a good rockstar read and was looking forward to meeting Miles and Meg. I thought that it would be a light and entertaining read after reading the book description, but when I got into the book there was more to it than that. Meg was struggling a little after a death in the family, and Miles had secrets that he wouldn’t discuss. So it was fun at times, but there was angst too. Meg seemed to start a lot of the disagreements, wanting to push Miles for more, and then when she didn’t get the answers she wanted, she would shrug it off. She should stick to her decisions and not let things drop so easy. She was developing feelings and needed to own it. So it was a good read, just not what I expected…

I liked this moment, Meg didn't realise who Miles was to begin with and they talked about songs that he may have wrote.

"I'd like to dedicate this next song to a very special girl. I'm not sure that she thinks much of me, but, Meg, I wrote this song, too."
