He’s twenty-four. She’s eighteen.
His life is exactly the way he’s always wanted it to be...stable.
She’s quite possibly the very definition of unstable.
Noah saved her.
Georgina never wanted to be saved.
Growing up, Noah Clark was passed from one relative to the next until he finally ended up living with his abusive, alcoholic uncle in Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina. Thanks in part to the unwavering love and support of his best friend, Ellie Turner, Noah survived those years, escaped his uncle, and grew into the man he is today. Now he runs his own business and lives a pretty normal, no-nonsense life—one where he maintains a high level of control.
Georgina is Ellie’s younger sister. Four months ago, Noah saved Georgie’s life, but he thought that was where his involvement with his friend’s sister would end. Now Georgie has returned home from the recovery facility her parents sent her away to and Noah, still haunted by the night that connects them, can’t stop himself from continuously trying to protect this girl he barely knows. But is he willing to give up all of the control he’s worked so hard to build in his life and risk everything for her? Even more importantly, would she do the same for him?
This is the second book of Sarah’s that I have read and it was another sweet read that I enjoyed. It started out introducing some of the main characters, before being thrown into a situation that had me gasping. I had to keep reading to see what happened and why Georgie did such a thing.
Noah was a character that I liked from
the beginning. He is a really great guy and becomes quite protective of
Georgie. He checks in on her, but tries to maintain distance, although it is
hard because his best friend is Georgie’s sister. He does some sweet things,
and has some little alpha male tendencies that had me swooning over him.
Georgie, well she dealt with loss, but
not in a healthy way. Her time away from her family helped her grow into a
better person. When she returns, she realised her crush on Noah has developed
into something more and is unsure whether he is feeling the same way. The more
time they spend together, the stronger their feelings became.
I think that Sarah has done a nice job
telling Georgie and Noah’s story. She introduced me to some great characters
that I liked getting to know. I met a family that sticks together and supports
each other through thick and thin. There were plenty of secondary characters
that I am looking forward to seeing more of in the next books. The storyline
had a deeper message entwined throughout and it was done in a tasteful way. Fantastic
job Sarah, I sure am looking forward to coming back to Kill Devil Hills.

Fantastic review, Naomi. I enjoyed KDH as well but wished for a little 'more' to add depth to the story. I really do hope Sarah continues this story though. I adored all the characters. :)
ReplyDeleteSo many New Adult authors throw the protagonists' family under the bus, so I'm relieved to hear that Sarah Darlington did the complete opposite. The secondary characters seem like they were almost as good as the main ones. Win/win! Happy Friday, Naomi!
