I have seen this book around a bit, and my friend Jenea over at Books Live Forever read and reviewed all of the books in this series and when the final book came out I just had to get it. I am so glad that I did because it is one fun ride. Who would've thought that being photographed could be so hawt!!
We start off with Rook… She is down on her luck and has escaped an unpleasant relationship, until she gets hit in the head with an opportunity… and she winds up in a studio having snaps taken and is offered a job. From the first time I met her, my heart was already feeling for her and the more I learned about her the more it ached. She has been broken pretty badly and all she wants is to be independent. When Ronin first lays his eyes on Rook he knows she is the one for the campaign they are shooting for, but there is something about her that he wants too. And he pushes Rook to the limits to find out if it is just a fleeting attraction or something more. It was very entertaining to watch these two together; they would flirt, banter and fight, all in very unique situations as they have to work together as models for the shoot. And boy does it get hawt!! Ronin is a little mysterious and keeps some things from Rook, but you can see that he generally cares for her.
Tragic wasn't as fast paced as most books I've read, but it was quite unique. No schools in this one, just life… coming from something unpleasant to finding your own feet. The intimate scenes are sizzling and the characters are easy to like. The author has done a fantastic job beginning Rook and Ronin's story and my only complaint would be how abrupt the book ended. It was like the end of the chapter… But I will pick up the next book immediately because I can't wait to see the next challenge for this couple.

ReplyDeleteGreat review! I loved the whole erotic modeling setting, very unique. Rook is such a strong character. I feel like Ronin is a bit pushy sometimes but I love him!

ReplyDeleteI always like to wait for all the books in a series to come out (if I can!). It's so much better to read them all at once!
