Book Description

She’s sixteen. He’s seventeen. They don’t know each other…at least not yet.

She has a secret and her whole life revolves around keeping it. Every few months and with little warning, she simply disappears, pulled into the past for hours or even days. She’s terrified it will happen in front of someone, changing her life forever. So far, the only witnesses have been her parents, and that didn’t end well. She has no control over it and no idea why it happens to her.

She wants answers.

He has answers—at least he understands what’s going on. He has a secret, too. He’s part of an organization that goes back in time to rewrite reality. But he also has a problem. He broke the organization’s number-one rule by altering his own timeline. As punishment, he’s been blocked from time travel, which is most unfortunate. Because the changes he made to his timeline, accidentally resulted in disaster for his family. A disaster he’s now prevented from repairing. No one can travel beneath the organization’s radar except a Shadow. But they’re rare, so rare he’s never even met one.

Then he moves to her town.

This is a YA romance with paranormal/sci-fi elements.

My Review

It is always fun to pick up a new book that is kind of different to what you're used to reading and that is what has happened with me and Rewrite Redemption. Take one unusual, innocent girl and thrust her with a power she doesn't understand and has a bond with her oak tree and she disappears occasionally.... Time travel with a twist!

The book is pretty steady in the beginning as we are filled in on some background on the main characters, on the circumstances that have occurred that lead into where they are in their lives now. A.J. has had a hard upbringing, disappearing occasionally with the only witness being her mother. She tries to stay under the radar by living by her 10 step Code of Invisibility as she doesn't want to bring attention to herself. A.J. has great support in her friends Lex and Ipod, each of them carry their own baggage and that is why they have all bonded together so well.

A.J. grows throughout the book and definitely changes for the better by the end. I think she is an amazing person and handles things quite well considering the information she has to process. She slowly comes out of her shell as she finally wants to take control of her life.

Constantine..... What a nice guy. He has had a complete change in character since an accident occurred that he set into motion, 7 months ago. His selfishness lead to someone being badly hurt and he has lived with the consequences ever since. It must be a hard burden, but moving to a new town might be a good start for him. He is an awesome kind hearted guy, but at times I wanted to shake him.... Since when does a guy not speak his mind, do it already!

A.J.’s best friends give great depth to the story. Lex, Ipod and A.J. have years of history and are always there for one another. They use each other as sounding boards to work through any problems that arise. Lex has a lot of spunk and her dominate personality takes charge all the time. She sticks up for her friends at all cost and I loved the way she did that for A.J. IPod is the sensible thinker guy, bit of a geek and likes to unravel mysteries. He is the one that keeps them grounded so their imaginations don’t run away! He is loyal and cute and has had a difficult time, but these girls love him to death.

The time travel aspect was a fun twist for me and the author has put so much thought and detail into the whys and hows that she had me captivated by the plot. Using the trees as a source of power is amazing and being able to access other powers is intriguing as well. I enjoyed the shifts in POV’s between Constantine and A.J., being able to see what they both were thinking. The jump back in time was a big highlight and it was a big personality building moment for some of the characters. The ending, I didn't see it playing out that way, but I truly loved how it all turned out. I would’ve loved some more swoon moments but in the end I was compelled to keep reading until that final page as I enjoyed it so much! I’m hoping to see more of this world in the future!

I received a copy of this book from the Author in exchange for an honest review.

About the Author

My life has been rather unconventional. Born insanely curious into an authoritarian, religious family, I know what it’s like to not fit in. My teen years were a struggle, and I remember them in all their intensity. That’s why I like writing for young adults.

I grew up in Central America, surrounded by jungle, and was never too far from the ocean. I observed other cultures, including an indigenous tribe that, at the time, had seen little of the modern world. While there, I slept in a hammock in a bamboo hut, dressed in tribal clothing, and helped bring three babies into the world in at the tender age of fourteen. I survived a hurricane aboard an ocean liner, canoeing through alligator infested waters, P.E., my brother’s pet tarantulas, sky diving, para-sailing over the Pacific shoreline, rock climbing, a ropes course blindfolded, and walking barefoot across hot coals. I’m not done having experiences.

I attended the University of Colorado, Boulder, but was so obsessed in my quest to understand human behavior; I left midstream to travel the country and study with people doing groundbreaking work in the field. I’m certified in Ericksonian Hypnosis, am a Master of Neuro-linguistic Processing, and have worked with world-class athletes, including members of the U.S. Ski Team. I’ve completed advanced studies with some of the most brilliant minds of my time in the field of NLP and am a perpetual student of sociology and human behavior.

I live with my photographer husband in the foothills of the Colorado Rockies. I’m surrounded by trees. And I will always remain insanely curious.
