Love is like an avalanche. It hits hard, fast and without mercy.

At least it did for me when Sculpt, the lead singer of the rock band Tear Asunder knocked me off my feet. Literally, because he’s also a fighter, illegally of course, and he taught me how to fight. He also taught me how to love and I fell hard for him. I mean the guy could do sweet, when he wasn't doing bossy, and I like sweet.

Then it all shattered.

Kidnapped.
Starved.
Beaten.
I was alone and fighting to survive.
When I heard Sculpt's voice, I thought he was there to save me.

I was wrong.

(It is highly recommended to read "With You" the novella first).

*Warning: This book contains some disturbing situations, strong language and sexual content. Over 18 years.

This is a love story with some dark elements. Dark contemporary romance. No cliffhanger and next in the Tear Asunder series is Ream's story (the band's lead guitarist).

Holy crap!!! This book is so gut wrenching! In the beginning I experienced a sweet and tender moment then in the next chapter I was thrust into a dark, dark world that fractured my heart, then took away piece by piece, then it would fix a little only to be broken once again. It was so intense I could not pull myself away from the pages.

Emily went through a horrific time in the first section of this book. She started out as a strong confident kind of girl but she was soon turned into a quivering mess. The torment and dark situations she witnessed would give anyone nightmares, and I just couldn't tear myself away from the book.

Two years after this ordeal, Eme has somewhat moved on, until Sculpt comes back into her life. She learns more about him and the things that went down and my heart shattered once again knowing Sculpt’s past. Things were way more complicated than anyone would've thought. Eme has to learn to trust again and is unsure of how to let anyone, let alone Sculpt, back past her walls.

There were some amazing secondary characters introduced in this story. They are very supportive of Eme and Sculpt. The band members are quirky, but willing to do anything for one another. Eme's friends are her family and never stop fighting for her. And Sculpt… Well I'll leave him to be a mystery, there are times you love him, then you question his decisions, just like Eme did. But now that I'm finished the story, I understood why he did what he did.

I loved this story and how the author had me gripping the pages. It was such an emotional ride and I couldn't believe how dark it was in places. To be stripped of all your defences is just devastating. I will definitely read more books relating to this series, I am curious about a lot of characters… I must read more!!
