Inhaling in life is easy. It’s the exhaling—the letting go— that’s the hard part.
Katie Elliot has always known the Conner twins. For years she secretly pined after one, while playfully averting the advances of the other. Once upon a time, she was fine with that. Then came the moment when her twin of preference kissed her and changed everything.
As if realizing love can be complex—even when it’s reciprocated—isn’t hard enough, tragedy strikes, tearing Katie and the boy she’s always desired apart. Finding herself torn between love and guilt, Katie must learn when it’s acceptable to let go—when it’s finally okay to exhale.
My Review
When I read the description of this book and it mentioned identical twins I thought this sounds like fun, we could be in for an uncomfortable love triangle, how exciting!! Once I was deep into the book I found it to be way more than just that. It was a beautiful story of love, loss and heartbreak.
Katie is a typical teenager, she loves to go to parties, have a few drinks and kiss boys, but the boy that she kisses is never the one she really wants. But after one party it looks like her dreams will come true. I related to Katie easily, as I remembered the days of going to those types of parties hanging out with friends, it was fun. She is a fun character and cares for everyone around her. She doesn’t really like conflict and would rather keep everyone happy instead of being in a confrontation with anyone. She tries to hide her feelings but the Connor boys are very good at reading her.
I loved both of the boys and you can tell that they are both close friends with Katie. Derek is the shy type of guy and always looking out for those he cares about. Kyle is the bad boy of the twins; he likes to party and hang out with friends and wears his heart on his sleeve for everyone to see. He is a bit hot-headed, but I love that about him!!
Exhale was fun in the beginning and I enjoyed how the book was going, parties, dates, steamy kisses it was all about the teenage lifestyle until the plot took a serious turn that had my heart breaking. If I cry whilst reading a book, it is because I was completely engrossed by it and addicted to the plot. I shed a tear a number of times throughout this book as the characters struggled with their feelings and how life would go. Relationships were built, then they would fall apart only to begin again. It was a heart wrenching read and I loved every minute of reading this book.
I loved the Jennifer’s writing style and how quickly she sucked me into the story. The depth of the emotion in Exhale is just amazing and it was best described as a rollercoaster of emotions. Jennifer did an incredible job of writing this book and I will definitely read more of her work in the future!
I received a copy of the book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

And if you say it is that good, I totally believe you - you've never lead me astray before! Now I am off to Goodreads to stalk this book some more!
ReplyDeleteI love print because I like to feel the book in my hands and see the progress I'm making. We've had hundreds and hundreds of years to perfect the craftsmanship of a book. Kindle's gonna take a little while to catch up.

I am going to admit that while I generally prefer ebooks, I entered for either, as I would really love to read this book. There is no greater pleasure for me than when an author sucks you in and makes you like and love the characters, allowing me to become emotionally involved in the circumstances of the story. Always keep a box of Puffs on hand for just such occasions ;) Thank you for sharing another awesome new read with me.
