Book Description

On the evening of Sofia Claremont's seventeenth birthday, she is sucked into a nightmare from which she cannot wake.

A quiet evening walk along a beach brings her face to face with a dangerous pale creature that craves much more than her blood.

She is kidnapped to an island where the sun is eternally forbidden to shine. An island uncharted by any map and ruled by the most powerful vampire coven on the planet. She wakes here as a slave, a captive in chains.

Sofia's life takes a thrilling and terrifying turn when she is the one selected out of hundreds of girls to join the harem of Derek Novak, the dark royal Prince.

Despite his addiction to power and obsessive thirst for her blood, Sofia soon realizes that the safest place on the island is within his quarters, and she must do all within her power to win him over if she is to survive even one more night.

Will she succeed? ...or is she destined to the same fate that all other girls have met at the hands of the Novaks?

My Review

I have read A LOT of vampire books over time, because they are one of my favourite fictional characters, because let’s face it, I love Paranormal!! So it is always exciting for me to come across a new author that can put their own unique twist on the genre and Bella sure as hell was able to do that!!

Sofia has had a rough childhood and her one constant in life is her best friend Ben. When Ben forgets her birthday, as he is distracted by his new girlfriend, Sofia has a break down and flees to the beach to calm down. Whilst she is reflecting on her night, she is approached by a beautiful stranger. This is when her life takes a turn and she discovers the world of Vampires!

Sofia is a beautiful and level headed girl who has struggled with the fact she may go insane just like her mother. She has developed pretty strong feelings for Ben but doesn't know if he reciprocates these feelings. She is an awesome girl and is very courageous and holds here ground even in the face of danger. Derek, I really like although he has been hiding from his responsibilities. He becomes very protective of Sofia because he sees her as more than just a snack… Sofia and Derek have great chemistry and are drawn to each other almost immediately. They are both confused about their connection, because let’s face it, Sofia is food for the vampires. There a few bumps in the road for this couple and their connection continues to strengthen throughout the story.

I loved this book and everything about it. It had a gripping plot and an intense storyline. Sofia and Derek’s journey is just begun and what I have read so far is sensational!! The coven and their lifestyle is an interesting aspect to me as well. I just wished that the story was longer, this book was a little short but I am captivated by this series now and I can’t wait to see where the story goes in the next book!!

I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Author Bio – Bella Forrest

I've been telling stories pretty much since I could talk. Instead of having my parents read me bed-time stories, I would prefer to share with them my own made up tales.

As I grew older, I developed a passion for the fantasy genre. I'm an incurable Potterhead.

My debut novel, A Shade of Vampire, was released on December 14, 2012.
The book became a Number 1 Christmas Bestseller in Vampire Romance, Paranormal and Fantasy on Amazon.
