Book Description

No safe word can protect the heart

Infamous erotica author and accomplished dominatrix Nora Sutherlin is doing something utterly out of character: hiding. While her longtime lover, Søren—whose fetishes, if exposed, would be his ruin—is under scrutiny pending a major promotion, Nora's lying low and away from temptation in the lap of luxury.

Her host, the wealthy and uninhibited Griffin Fiske, is thrilled to have Nora stay at his country estate, especially once he meets her traveling companion. Young, inexperienced and angelically beautiful, Michael has become Nora's protégé, and this summer with Griffin is going to be his training, where the hazing never ends.

But while her flesh is willing, Nora's mind is wandering. To thoughts of Søren, her master, under investigation by a journalist with an ax to grind. And to another man from Nora's past, whose hold on her is less bruising, but whose secrets are no less painful. It's a summer that will prove the old adage: love hurts.

My Review

The Angel continues 13 months after the end of the first book The Siren. In The Angel we follow not only with Nora but with Michael, who made an appearance in The Siren. There is a reporter, Susanne, that we check in with too as she tries to dredge up dirt on Soren and tries to connect him with both Nora and Michael. The actions of the reporter lead Soren to the decision of sending the two of them away so that they won't be questioned by Suzanne.

Nora and Michael go and stay at Griffin Fisks place out in the country. Griffin also appeared in The Siren, so it was good to see them go stay with a character that I was already familiar with. I like Griffin, not only is he dead sexy, but he is funny with a quick mouth on him. He always seems to speak without thinking, but it is just his character. He is a Domme, who hasn't found his perfect sub. Nora and Griffin have an easy relationship as they know each other quite well, so they are natural together and know what the other wants.

This trip is not only about escape however as Nora has been told to train Michael to become a sub. As Nora has been in the game so long she is very good at it and takes care with Michael. She is actually very sweet about it and tries to talk Michael through it and get him to open up to her about what he wants in life. I think that is why I really like Nora, she may come across all tough and hotheaded, but she also has a softer side as well.

Michael has been confused about his sexuality for years and feels that he has found his place in the world of S&M and BDSM. He has no friends at home and has been distant with his parents as of late. He attends church regularly as Father S has been his saviour but also so he can see Nora at church as he knows she will be there.

With Suzanne investigating Soren, we are able to see more into him and the way he clicks. After The Siren I really didn't like him and being a Priest and all just didn't sit right with me, but in this story we see right into his past and understand why he is this way. It turns out that I do like him and he is a very passionate person, even if he is a Sadist.

I thought this story was more a journey of self discovery for all of the characters. They face the demons of their pasts, which in turn change the way they see things in the future. There are plenty of intense sex scenes and even an M/M one as well. I had never read a M/M scene before, but because I knew both characters and I could see it was more about love; it was a great scene for them. I enjoyed the whole ride and I am excited about the turn of events in the end. The Prince is going to be a fun book and may change Nora forever.

Once I again need to thank Harlequin Australia for sending me a paperback copy of The Siren to review!!

About the Author

Tiffany Reisz lives in Lexington, Kentucky with her boyfriend (a reformed book reviewer) and two cats (one good, one evil). She graduated with a B.A. in English from Centre College in Danville, Kentucky and is making both her parents and her professors proud by writing BDSM erotica under her real name. She has five piercings, one tattoo, and has been arrested twice.

When not under arrest, Tiffany enjoys Latin Dance, Latin Men, and Latin Verbs. She dropped out of a conservative southern seminary in order to pursue her dream of becoming a smut peddler. Johnny Depp’s aunt was her fourth grade teacher. Her first full-length novel THE SIREN was inspired by a desire to tie up actor Jason Isaacs (on paper). She hopes someday life will imitate art (in bed).

If she couldn’t write, she would die…
