Criminal profiler Sadie Bonds knows blood. Her affair with the gruesome, dark world of killers began long before she started applying her analytical skills to investigate gory crime scenes. She gets inside the killers’ heads, breaks them down, relates to them on an arcane level. She prefers it this way—because it’s safer to ally herself with the villain than the victim. At least, that’s how she’s coped ever since she was abducted and tortured as a teen.

She will never be a victim again.

Now, she’s honed her skills in order to bring justice to these ritualistic offenders. Working alongside her colleagues, armed with sharp wit and a SIG, Sadie always catches her sadist. Until one ruthless serial killer gets inside Sadie’s head, turning the tables. He knows her secrets. Her obsessions. The darkest, most deviant part of her soul.

When she meets Colton Reed, dangerous stakes are raised as he threatens to unravel her control and reveal her darkest fantasies. The sexy-as-sin bondage rigger at an exclusive BDSM club pushes her boundaries, forcing her to acknowledge that side of herself she fears. Plunged into a realm of torture and suffering, pain and pleasure, Sadie balances on the razor-sharp edge of two intersecting worlds threatening to swallow her.

Passion and lust ignite. Dark and light battle. This explosive first installment of the Broken Bonds series sets the exhilarating pace for a cat and mouse game where no one knows who’s really pulling the strings.

Holy hotness! Trisha Wolfe has blown my mind with this new book in her Broken Bonds series! With Visions of Red follows Sadie, a criminal profiler, who is working on a case, that unsettles her deepest fears and desires. She finds her way back to an erotic club and into the clutches of Colton, the sexy, mysterious guy that wants to make her his.

This book has all the elements that I love in a dark romantic thriller! There is an intense relationship building between Colton and Sadie. They explore a number of sexual desires that Sadie desperately wants to experience. I was introduced to the art of Shibari and how sexually erotic it can be. It has a thrilling storyline that has you on edge, and especially when you venture into the mind of the killer. There are numerous twists and turns that will keep you guessing and trying to figure out who the killer is!!

I LOVED every moment of reading this book. Trisha Wolfe has developed this captivating world that I lost myself in. The characters are twisted in their own ways, they are still withholding so much from each other and from the reader as well. I met a lot of secondary characters, and I have no clue on whether or not they can be trusted! I have so many theories and questions that I need answers too! I WANT THE NEXT BOOK!! Trust me people, you do not want to miss out on this one!!

“But I’ll only ever do as you ask. This is the trust between us. When you say stop, I’ll stop. When you demand more, I’ll exert myself until you’re satisfied.” His face is so close to mine, I just have to inch forward…one little inch…to taste him. “Now, those are the clear safe words between us. So tell me to taste you, and not to stop until you’re coming in my mouth.”

Asa by Jay Crownover ~ Review

I was part of the Asa review tour, but unfortunately I didn't get enough time to read the book, so today, I am bringing you my long overdue review!

Asa (Marked Men, #6)

Title: Asa
Author: Jay Crownover
Series: Marked Men #6
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Published: April 21st 2015
Buy Now - Amazon / Barnes & Noble / iBooks

Jay Crownover’s New York Times and USA Today bestselling Marked Men series continues with the much anticipated story of southern charmer and certified criminal Asa Cross.

Starting over in Denver with a whole new circle of friends and family, Asa Cross struggles with being the man he knows everyone wants him to be and the man he knows he really is. A leopard doesn’t it change its spots and Asa has always been a predator. He doesn’t want to hurt those who love and rely on him, especially one luscious arresting cop who suddenly seems to be interested in him for far more than his penchant for breaking the law. But letting go of old habits is hard, and it’s easy to hit bottom when it’s the place you know best.

Royal Hastings is quickly learning what the bottom looks like after a tragic situation at work threatens not only her career but her partner’s life. As a woman who has only ever had a few real friends she’s trying to muddle through her confusion and devastation all alone. Except she can’t stop thinking about the sexy southern bartender she locked up. Crushing on Asa is the last thing she needs but his allure is too strong to resist. His long criminal record can only hurt her already shaky career and chasing after a guy who has no respect for the law or himself can only end in heartbreak.

A longtime criminal and a cop together just seems so wrong . . . but for Asa and Royal, being wrong together is the only right choice to make.

Asa is the last book in Jay Crownover’s Marked Men series and I must say that it was a fitting end. I first met Asa in his sister Ayden’s book, Jet, and he wasn’t a very good guy. Over the course of the next few books you could see that he had changed his life around and deserved his shot at happiness.

Asa’s had a fair few brushes with the law so of course he would fall for Royal, the rookie cop that arrested him a while ago. Royal is friends with Saint and a few other girls in the Marked Men family and has had a tough time lately. She is struggling with an issue that went down at work and wants Asa to distract her. Asa keeps pushing her away, but being a male, it can only happen for so long.

It was sad to see how much Asa lacked self worth; he was adamant that Royal could do so much better than him, but she continued to come back and slowly they both pieced their hearts back together. The passion between them was undeniable and I loved seeing their connection grow. But there was always something there that kept Asa from going all the way with his feelings.

This book wrapped up the series nicely and I was able to see how the rest of this dysfunctional family were moving on. They were all facing new challenges and big changes in their lives. They all love each other with a fierce passion and will do anything for one another. Asa and Royal’s relationship had its hurdles and they had to work hard to get it to work, but so worth it in the end. The epilogue was beautiful and I was satisfied it ended on a high note. I will definitely read more books by Jay Crownover in the future!

Ricochet

The only sure way to destroy a man is to take what he cannot live without.

Three years ago, I had everything.

A beautiful wife.
A son.
A reason for living.

Until a ruthless task force, assembled under Mayor Michael Culling, with a brutal strategy to make the streets of Detroit ‘safe’, ripped away everything I loved in a deadly hunt called The Culling.

They tried to kill me, too. I wish they had. Now I'm cursed by the memories of that night, and the words I whispered to my dying wife.

A promise—to avenge the wrong and set it right.

I’m no longer Nick Ryder. I’m a masked vigilante. Faceless. Loveless. Fearless. A man with nothing left to lose—one who's seen the dark and violent truth behind the city’s flawless veneer.

Michael Culling doesn’t know who I am. Or what I want. All he knows is that I’ve kidnapped his beautiful wife.

An eye for an eye—isn’t that how the saying goes? And Aubree Culling is the perfect pawn to destroy him.

If she doesn’t destroy me first.

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill @ Breaking the Spine where I have the chance to spotlight upcoming releases that I’m eagerly anticipating.

A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas ~ Review & Teaser Tuesday

Title: A Court of Thorns and Roses
Author: Sarah J. Maas
Series: A Court of Thorns and Roses #1
Genre: NA Fantasy
Published: May 5th 2015

A thrilling, seductive new series from New York Times bestselling author Sarah J. Maas, blending Beauty and the Beast with faerie lore.

When nineteen-year-old huntress Feyre kills a wolf in the woods, a beast-like creature arrives to demand retribution for it. Dragged to a treacherous magical land she only knows about from legends, Feyre discovers that her captor is not an animal, but Tamlin—one of the lethal, immortal faeries who once ruled their world.

As she dwells on his estate, her feelings for Tamlin transform from icy hostility into a fiery passion that burns through every lie and warning she's been told about the beautiful, dangerous world of the Fae. But an ancient, wicked shadow grows over the faerie lands, and Feyre must find a way to stop it . . . or doom Tamlin—and his world—forever.

I loved, loved, LOVED this book! I have read and loved Sarah’s Throne of Glass series, so when I received this little beauty, I was so excited to read it. It has been a little while since I have read a good fae book, and this one totally rocked my world!! Magic, deception, conspiracy and murder are just the tip of the iceberg!

Feyre and her family came from a life of riches, and now she scrounges and hunts for food to keep her two older sisters and their father alive. Because of this, it shaped her into the strong and caring person she is and will sacrifice herself to keep them alive. One hunting expedition changed her life forever and soon she was whisked to the Autumn Court with Tamlin.

I loved seeing her find herself in a new place, not having to catch food and make decisions for herself. She cared for her family for so long that she didn’t know what to do once she didn’t have that. I loved how in the beginning that she was so closed off and slowly let her walls down. She made her own friends in the fae world and the banter she had with Lucien and the slow building tension with Tamlin.

There were a lot of secondary characters introduced and Feyre built strong relationships with a few of them. The banter with Lucien was always amusing, and the sexual tension between Tamlin and Feyre became harder to ignore.

Feyre grew into her own person in this book and I loved how she changed and became more determined to see things right for the fae world. Tamlin was withholding information and I was always curious as to what it was about. The details were revealed slowly throughout the story and looking back I could see the pieces falling into place. Tamlin has to be one of my favourite Fae characters; he is a strong and determined character, but had a soft side for Feyre and could read her so well.

There was plenty of action in A Court of Thorns and Roses and I was glued to this book right to the end. There were lots of twists throughout the story and it was a really exciting read. I am a big fan of new adult reads and the sex scenes in this book showed the depth of the developing relationship between the characters. If you haven’t read a Sarah J. Maas book before, you MUST get this one a give it a whirl!

I had to tilt my head back to see his face. His mouth was caught somewhere between a smile and a wince.

"What?" I asked, and put a hand on his chest, preparing to shove myself back. But his other hand slipped under my hair, resting at the base of my neck.
"I'm thinking I might kiss you," he said quietly, intently.
"Then do it." I blushed at my own boldness.

Exposed by Tracy Wolff ~ Review & Giveaway

Tomorrow is release day for Exposed by Tracy Wolff! I love every book that has come out of this world and was excited to see there was more. Check it out and enter the giveaway below!

Title: Exposed
Author: Tracy Wolff
Series: Ethan Frost #3
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Published: May 5th 2015

Ethan Frost, the irresistible leading man from the New York Times bestsellers Ruined and Addicted, returns once again in Exposed—a novel that’s perfect for fans of J. Kenner and Sylvia Day.

Will Ethan Frost go too far for the woman he loves?

The moment Chloe Girard walked into my life, she exposed secrets and emotions I always thought were best kept buried.

She wants to move on, to ignore the past. But I can’t do that. Not when she still suffers. And not when the man who hurt her remains unscathed. So when I discover the perfect opportunity to make him pay for what he did to Chloe, I can’t walk away, no matter the consequences.

But there’s a fine line between justice and obsession. As I turn up old crimes and new lies, I know that I’m playing with fire—and risking the very foundations of our relationship.

My love for Chloe is absolute. I just hope it’s enough to save us both.

I have read all the books in this series so far – the Ethan Frost books and the Play Me novella spinoff’s – so when I heard Ethan’s series was continuing, I was extremely excited (doing my happy dance) to dive back into this world. I think that Exposed may be my favourite book in the series so far.

Both Ethan and Chloe have grown throughout the series and I was able to see how much they had in this book. They were willing to fight for one another, on more than one occasion, and were able to show each other the depth of their love. There were plenty of twists for them to get past, but they worked together instead of running.

The problems of their pasts resurfaced in this book, and Ethan tried to take control and resolve it. This particular element had me on edge and eagerly flicking the pages. I had no idea what was going to happen and I didn’t see the twist coming that had me gasping. The passion between Chloe and Ethan continues to escalate and every time they are together their love continues to build. They aren’t always tender moments, and sometimes their need for one another is overwhelming.

There are a few good side characters in this series and Tori is one of them. She is great support for Chloe, she helped her through a few hard times and a lot of exciting times too. She always speaks her mind and doesn’t hold back with her witty remarks!

Tracy Wolff sucked me into her world once again and I didn’t want the story to end. I like all the characters and feel their emotions as they deal with the good and bad elements that they have to face. I was left wanting more and hanging until after Christmas… sobs… It is an incredible series and I hope you take the chance and give it a go too.

Complimentary copy provided by the Publisher, via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Tracy Wolff collects books, English degrees and lipsticks and has been known to forget where—and sometimes who—she is when immersed in a great novel. At six she wrote her first short story—something with a rainbow and a prince—and at seven she forayed into the wonderful world of girls lit with her first Judy Blume novel. By ten she’d read everything in the young adult and classics sections of her local bookstore, so in desperation her mom started her on romance novels. And from the first page of the first book, Tracy knew she’d found her life-long love. Now an English professor at her local community college, she writes romances that run the gamut from contemporary to paranormal to erotic suspense.

Nomi’s Weekly Wrap Up 135

Nomi’s Weekly Wrap Up is a combined meme with the Sunday Post hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer, Bought, Borrowed and Bagged hosted by Braine @ Talk Supe and Stacking The Shelves hosted by Tynga’s Reviews. I’ll share news, post a recap of the past week and tell you what will be happening on my blog in the week ahead. I will also tell you about the books and goodies that I have managed to pick up.
We had Anzac day last weekend, and it was pretty hectic. My cousin was the guest speaker at the luncheon in her home town, because she served in Iraq and Afghanistan, so we made the trip back to see it. There was not a dry eye in the house. We then packed up and got home in time to do our sports on the Sunday. It was a very exhausting weekend.

However, since Monday it has been a little more laid back. I was able to catch up on some things that I have let slip blog wise, and get in a bit of TV.
