F*ck Marriage by Tarryn Fisher ~ Review & Teaser (@DarkMarkTarryn)

I've finally picked up a Fisher read, and I was quite excited to get into it. It wasn't a bad read, but I would've liked a better ending. I will definitely picking up something else by Fisher in the future.

Two years ago, Billie Tarrow's husband left her for another woman. Shamed and divorced, Billie retreated to her family home in Port Townsend, far from her old life in New York. After a near-death encounter, Billie decides to return to the city that took everything from her.

But sometimes in the midst of heartache, hope suffocates the pain.

Satcher Gable has carried a torch for Billie for ten years. When she suddenly returns to New York a single woman, he can't believe his good fortune. But convincing her to walk away from her heartache is proving more difficult than Satcher anticipated. A changed woman, Billie's only goal is revenge.

Tarryn Fisher is one of those authors that I've been meaning to read, but never got around to, so I thought I'd better get to it once I found F*ck Marriage. It really sounded fun and I wanted to see if Billie was able to move on and find happiness once again.

F*ck Marriage started quite quickly with Billie returning from Port Townsend to New York to the city she loved. She had a place to stay and was beginning to find her feet. After running into Satcher she was offered a job back at the company she started, and working once again with her ex-husband and his fiance.

I liked that Billie was focused when he came to her work and I loved the ideas that she brought to the business. She also was determined to win back her ex. I liked seeing her open up Satcher and soon she began to see him. The more time they spent together, the more I hoped that they would find their happiness together. But as usual, there's a twist, and my heart broke for Billie and Satcher. I could see they were both hurting, but were both stubborn.

There were a few more twists thrown in that left me baffled. I know we all like a bit of drama in our reads, but some of these were really big and rushed twists. Honestly, the last 20% of the book felt forced and I really didn't enjoy how it all wrapped up.

I didn't mind Fisher's writing, and she really did pull me into the story and had me excited to see the main characters together. Some of the side characters annoyed me, especially the ex-husband and his partner. I loved Satchers family, and I really wished Billie had someone she was close to. It wasn't a bad read, but I was left scratching my head a little.
This was a bold moment for Billie that I had to share... she did have a little tattoo that said Paridise 😃

When I join Satcher in the living room, he eyes my legs and whistles low.
“I see paradise,” he says.
I bend at the waist and study my thigh. “No way,” I say. “You have to get really close to see it.”
“That’s not what I’m talking about, Billie.”
I straighten up and he laughs at my blush. Then I do something so completely unlike me. I lift my T-shirt over my head until I’m standing in front of Satcher in only my panties.
“Why just look?” I say.
