Ripped by Sarah Morgan ~ Review & Swoon Thursday

Considering the amount of books Sarah Morgan has written, it has taken me a LONG time to read my first story, and i wasn't disappointed. Considering it's getting cold down here in Aus, it was fitting that I read Ripped, a Christmas read... in July!

"Wardrobe malfunction" doesn't begin to cover it.

With a rip louder than the "I dos," Hayley's hideous bile-yellow bridesmaid dress explodes. She's always had enviable curves, but nearly naked wasn't quite the look she'd been going for at her ex's wedding.

She's rushed from the altar under the best man's designer tux jacket. Hayley's expecting a blast of icy disapproval from sexy, sophisticated Niccolò Rossi—his usual reaction to anything she does. What she gets is a kiss that nearly melts what's left of her polyester nightmare gown.

It's impossible on a million levels. Exuberant engineer Hayley and buttoned-up lawyer Nico have never seen eye to eye—but skin to skin? Oh, mio… So when Nico shows up at her flat on Christmas Day to give her a fabulous gift—himself—Hayley's delighted to do the unwrapping. But it's just a holiday fling. By New Year's Day, she'll come back to her senses…unless Nico's sensual skills tear away all her resolve.

Ripped is an amusing and sexy read, set in London over the Christmas holiday period. It starts at a wedding where Hayley becomes the centre of attention when her dress rips and she’s exposed to everyone. I laughed so hard during this scene as Hayley goes through all her thoughts on the dress, the wedding and the best man. When the broody Nico sweeps in and whisks her away to a private room, the sexual tension between them reaches boiling point.

I liked seeing Hayley and Nico together, she is upfront with what she is feeling, but Nico is quite reserved when it comes to what he is thinking. Christmas Day was very entertaining, seeing as Hayley’s sister Rosie set her up! They both struggled to keep their hands off one another and there is no denying the attraction between them: it’s hot and sizzling!

Even though this was a short read, I really enjoyed how quickly I was swept away in the world. Hayley was such a quirky character and never knew what she would say next. Nico was always thinking and his emotions came out more when they were alone. I could see that both Hayley and Nico had strong bonds with their sisters too. It was a fast-paced read, with a few sizzling scenes and plenty of witty remarks. I’ll be sure to read the other book in the series to see what happens between Rosie and He Who Shall Not Be Named.

‘I want so much more than your thanks.’ He cupped my face in his hands and my heart was pounding so hard I was surprised people couldn’t hear it over the music.
‘You do?’
‘Yes. I want you. And I really do mean you—’ His fingers bit into my head and his eyes were fierce on mine. ‘Not a version of you I’ve made up to suit my own needs, but the real you. The you I saw that first night. The clever you. The you that knows about engines and wants a job with NASA. The you that can add up endless numbers in your head as a party gimmick. The you that loves llamas and would do anything for her sister. The you I’ve thought about every night for twenty months, three weeks and one day.’
