I have been meaning to read Foreplay for a while and I finally picked it up… and I am kicking myself that I hadn’t done it earlier! It is the type of New Adult book I like to read, with the gradual building of a relationship, just enough drama to keep me happy and has characters that a want to know more about.
I really liked Pepper; she is a girl that I could see as my friend. She is smart, has a kind heart and is a little naïve. She had a difficult childhood and found it hard to let people in. Her life plan included a guy, who was unavailable, but when circumstances change, she decides to gain some experience – which I snickered about – and she sets her sights on Reece.
I liked Reece right from the first time I met him. Even though he looks a little rough – with his tattoos and piercing – he is a gentleman. Getting to know him throughout this book, how he deals with his work, Pepper and his family, showed how good he was. I could see his feelings developing, but Pepper found it hard to deal with hers.
I love how this story was put together. Sophie Jordan built these characters and made me love them! They both had good souls with troubled childhoods and I liked seeing them step out of their comfort zones. The little twists thrown in weren’t too major, just enough to keep you guessing what would happen next. I really enjoyed this read, and I did it mostly with a smile on my face. I was up late the night I started it, because I couldn’t put it down, I wanted to know what was going on! I devoured the rest the following day and was left excited about the books I have to read next!
