You know that I dived into this one immediately after finishing the first book, because I was so invested in the world and charactes. Caven was such a strong character and I needed to know how he would handle the knew situation!

When I was fifteen, a single bullet changed my life. I spent the next decade trying to outrun the devastation of my past, building an empire that would shield me from whatever life could throw at me.
But all the money in the world couldn’t help me when I found a screaming newborn abandoned on my doorstep.
I’d never wanted to be a father. Passing the sludge that ran through my veins down to an innocent child seemed like a tragedy. But there she was—pink cheeks, red hair, and mine.
Somehow, against all logic, that little girl became the best thing that ever happened to me. It was impossible to stay lost in the past when I was the only one who could protect her future.
Which is exactly why, when her mother came back four years later, I was ready for battle.
If only I could stop myself from falling in love with her during the war.

I dived into Written with You immediately after reading the first book, because I was left gasping at what had been revealed. It wasn't long until all secrets were revealed, but there was a hint of intensity surfacing through the read that left me on the edge of my seat.
Caven really struggled once the secrets surfaced. He protected Rosie with every fibre of his body, but pushed away the one person that had truly stolen his heart, and that he had a deep connection with from the incident eighteen years prior. It was good to see him work through his emotions and having the support of his best friend Ian.
Hadley was heartbroken and had to learn to deal with her feelings. She had made mistakes, and even though they had such a deep connection, she needed to allow Caven the time to come around. Some demons arose from her sisters past and she was grateful for the support she received.
I really enjoyed seeing both characters come back to one another. It wasn't easy, and the suspense during a few moments was thrilling. There were more twists that I did not see coming and I applaud Aly Martinez on delivering this story perfectly! I was delighted on how it all wrapped up!

These two struggled with their feelings, and here are a couple of moments here they tried to work things out.
“I want to hate you,” he hissed. “I want to stop thinking about you. I want to stop fucking staring at you for two goddamn nights every week.” His mouth hovered over mine, not touching. Nothing but an exchange of air as I panted, thick with desire. “I want to forget the way you felt. I want to forget the way I felt. I want you not to have lied to me. And I want to stop feeling so fucking guilty because you had to.”

I rested a hand on her thigh, the other going to her hand holding the icepack as I squatted in front of her.
My throat was gravel as I ordered, “Let me see.”
She sighed. “I’m fine, Caven. Really.”
“Fantastic. Then let me see.”
She stared at me, her chin quivering and her green eyes sparkling with unshed tears. “Please don’t. I don’t want to be in this box.”
“What are you talking about? What box?”
She glanced over at the cops, who were congregating behind a cruiser, then whispered, “The one in your head where I’m the girl at the mall who you have to rush in and save all the time.”
“Babe, I have no idea what you are talking about right now. But I really need to see what’s going on beneath that ice because the shit in my head, seeing you surrounded by police and paramedics again, it’s not pretty. Okay?”

Originally from Savannah, Georgia, USA Today bestselling author Aly Martinez now lives in South Carolina with her husband and four young children.
Never one to take herself too seriously, she enjoys cheap wine, charcuterie boards, and her mildly neurotic golden retriever. It should be known, however, that she hates pizza and ice cream, almost as much as writing her bio in the third person.
She passes what little free time she has reading anything and everything she can get her hands on, preferably with a super-sized tumbler of wine by her side.
