The taboo turns me on.
The dirty. The filthy. The nasty.

Hold onto your panties, ladies.
Lucas Carter is here to show you the dark side of the sheets.
***WARNING: This is a dark romance erotica – meaning lots of violence, sex, and emotionally disturbing inner dialogue. The main character does not, however, kidnap or force himself on women. Taboo Unchained may be a dark erotic romance, but it certainly wasn’t just about the naughty sex scenes. It has a deeper storyline that had me gripping the pages, trying to figure out Lucas’ demons and the details of his past.
From the opening chapter, I though Lucas was this arrogant guy who thinks he’s god’s gift to women, but as the story unfolded, I realised there was more to him than what he portrayed. There was a darkness in him and he found unusual ways to deal with it, which in turn, helped his clients.
There were some secondary characters that were introduced that I liked. Audra was just as dark and mysterious as Lucas; she was a bit spontaneous but craved release like Lucas. Robbie was the sweet girl next door who unsettled Lucas and made him feel again.
There were other characters too, but they mostly made my skin crawl, but they were needed for Lucas to deal with his demon.
Taboo Unchained really was a good read, but definitely not for the faint hearted and touched on darker topics: conspiracy, murder and intense bedroom scenes, just to name a few. I enjoyed the build up of the story and the turn it took to become more personal for Lucas.

I'm not sure I've actually read any dark erotic romance yet - I've certainly bookmarked and bought plenty of it. It both entices and scares me - probably the point, right? I'll definitely mark this one - having a good story is always a plus for an erotic romance, good bedroom scenes are just a part (important ;) but still!). Great review!
ReplyDeleteThis sounds right up my alley, Naomi! ;) Dark, twisty, steamy...um, yes please. I guess I'll be forced to one-click this one. *ha*

ReplyDeleteHaha! You might have to!
ReplyDeleteIt's probably not as dark as some I've read, but still pretty good!
