Author: J.A. Huss
Series: Dirty, Dark, and Deadly #2
Genre: Contemporary Romance

“Secrets keep the darkness alive,” Harper tells me. But that’s not how I see it at all. Secrets keep me alive. The truth is overrated. Honesty is never the best policy. And everything you know absolutely can hurt you.

The contracts I fulfill are just agreements. Death is a business deal. Secrets are currency in my world. I pay my debts with them. I feed on them. They ground me in the present and they promise me a future. I’ve lived a life filled with secrets for so long—I forgot what it’s like to… feel.

Until I saw Harper. Until I saw how beautiful she’s become. How perfect, and pure, and innocent of all the ugly that goes on around her. And that dirty promise I refused the night her father turned me into a killer twelve years ago is suddenly on the table again.

Harper can be mine. No—Harper will be mine. All I have to do is complete the mission.

Death is a business deal.

And I just shook his hand.

I have been keen to get my hands on Come Back since finishing Come last month, and I can tell you I wasn’t disappointed! It was action packed from beginning to end and I was still left wanting more!

James… well he is still dark and mysterious, but it was good to see more of him in this book. We learnt more about his world and what he has been through. I liked seeing how far back their connection went and seeing the turmoil he had to deal with. Just imagining this lethal man has my heart beating flat out… He is the perfect package, but can make you disappear in the blink of an eye!

Harper, she has been through a lot as well, and in Come Back I saw more about her and her past too. Harper and James still have an amazing bond and their time alone is pretty intense! Throughout Come and the first part of Come Back she was pretty hard core and careful, but she seemed to have let her guard down in the last part of the story. Don't get me wrong, I still love her, I just felt that she wasn't as cautious like she should have been. I liked seeing Sasha too! She is so fiery and pushes everyone’s buttons. Her secrets are what keep everyone on edge and I love the way she can stir trouble!

Come Back was simply fantastic! J.A. Huss sure sucks me into her incredible world, gives me characters that I love and she has me on the edge of my seat. The story line is quite intense, but the intimate scenes were scorching! James and Harper are a couple I am not going to forget and I cannot wait to see what happens with them next!

  5. Huss does seem to be able to write stronger and stronger couples, doesn't she? I loved Come Back, as you know. I do agree with you on how Harper seemed to let her guard down - but you know Huss...there's probably a reason and she'll turn everything on its head. ;) And Sasha is awesome! You know what they say about small packages... Glad you loved Come Back as much as I did, Naomi!

  8. Yes, I loved getting to know James better, too, Naomi! He freaked me out a little in Come, so it was really nice to feel better about him in Come Back :)
Sasha is awesome! She's a true little killer, isn't she? And I love how the intricate relationships involving some of my favorite characters from the Rook and Ronin universe makes everything even more on edge!
    Great review :)

  14. I like the dark mysterious types, so he didn't freak me too much. I figured they had an early connection, she just couldn't remember it. It was great to see in his head! Sasha, she is gunna be loads of fun! Glad to see she picked a side in the end!
