The fifth book in the New York Times new adult series that began with Real. When an angry, heartbroken girl is forced to be near her rocker ex-boyfriend, only time will tell if the fire between them will consume them both.
Pandora, the gothic friend of Brooke (Real, Mine, Remy) and Melanie, thought that getting her heart broken by her bad boy rocker ex could only happen once. But now, he's back in town with the biggest concert of the year. Pandora hates him so much that she gets Melanie to come with her and play a prank on him at his gig. But when they are caught by security, and her ex himself is summoned, he decides not to press charges if she'll follow certain conditions. Pandora likes none of his rules, or that he's in charge of her, especially since they seem designed to make sure she's in close contact with him again. But the closeness reignites the passion they once shared, and soon no matter how much she wants to hate him, it's clear she's still hung up on him. And worse: he knows it too.

I must say that Ripped is a
fantastic companion novel in the Real
series. I enjoyed getting to know Pandora better and understanding why she
has been bitter. Realising that her problems stemmed from her first love and
her mother’s perception of men, it was kind of heartbreaking. But watching her pick
herself up, put her emotions on the line and find the confidence to stand up
for her beliefs, was inspiring in itself.
Mackenna was an amazing guy too. He comes across like the tough and
carefree rocker guy, but I could see that his heart was damaged too. The
inspiration for a lot of his songs came from his relationship with Pandora.
When these two are in the same space they are toxic, but have an amazing
attraction to one another. It was amusing to see them together as they often
fought so much that it fuelled their desire for one another!!
Their attraction and chemistry wasn’t the only thing they had in common;
they also had secrets that have kept them apart for the past six years. It was
sad to see the hard times they went through because of them, and I kind of
picked up on the clues throughout their journey. I loved seeing the rock side to
Mackenna and his band, they are a great group of guys and take Pandora under
their wing a little. I also had small glimpses of Brooke, Remy, Melanie and
Greyson.
I thought that Ripped was
another great instalment in the Real
series. I have enjoyed each and every instalment and I look forward to the
sixth book too. Katy Evans hooks me to her stories every time and creates these Alpha
males that I love! So even though the details of the sixth book are a mystery right now, I will be snapping it up ASAP!

Katy Evans grew up with books and book-boyfriends until she
found a real sexy boyfriend to love. They married and are now hard at work on
their own happily ever after. Katy loves her family and friends, and she also
loves reading, walking, baking, and being consumed by her characters until she
reaches “The End.” Which is, hopefully, only the beginning…
I must, MUST read this series, Naomi! I'm so glad this companion novel was such a great addition to the series. Pandora and Mackenna are my kind of couple - broken but putting themselves out there for each other. Perhaps I'll get a book or two in this series from Santa! ;) Great review, girl!
ReplyDeleteI'm with Brandee, I do believe that Pandora & Mackenna's romance is right up my alley! I have a bit of catching up to do before I'm reading for book 5, but reading Katy Evans's writing is never a chore, so I don't mind. :)

Oooo okay. I will have to check these out I think. I read the first but haven't followed up.
ReplyDeleteI loved the first book beyond words, but I never got past that one - because I'm cheap!!! I tried to, but that didn't pan out lol. I really wanted to continue the series, but the prices for these ebooks are just way too rich for my budget.
ReplyDeleteHowever, with that said, Real was so wonderful and perfect, I have no doubt that magic has carried it's way through the series. I'm a bit jealous of you!!!
You do have to read this series, I have loved each book and I'm keen for more! You need to meet REMY! Holy hotness!
ReplyDeleteI like her writing too... so easy to be swept away in her worlds!
ReplyDeleteYou need to, I really enjoyed each book!
ReplyDeleteHaha!! I am cheap too, don't worry! I got on the tour for the last one, and won the first few books from S&S Aus.
ReplyDeleteIt really has been a good series, and I am keen for more!
Jess loved this one too. She posted about Rough for our book boyfriend post and now I really want to meet that boy. I'm thinking about jumping in mid-series and start with Rouge. What do you think?
ReplyDeleteDo it, I think you will be fine with that... The last two would be good as standalones. Would be keen to see what you think.
