Bitter Sweet Love (The Dark Elements, #0.5)Title: Bitter Sweet Love
Author: Jennifer L. Armentrout
Series: The Dark Elements #0.5
Genre: YA Paranormal Romance
Published: December 1st 2013

In a sizzling prequel novella to her new series THE DARK ELEMENTS, #1 New York Times bestselling author Jennifer L. Armentrout draws readers into the extraordinary, irresistible world of Wardens and demons.

Dez wasn't just Jasmine's crush. A gargoyle Warden like Jas, he helped her come to terms with her destiny—fending off demons and maintaining balance between good and evil. He was her everything...right until the moment he disappeared without a trace. It didn't help that Jas's father had just announced that she and Dez would one day be mated. Hard not to take that personally.

And now he's back, three years older, ten times hotter, ready to pick up exactly where they left off. But Jas isn't taking that risk again. Dez has seven days to meet all her conditions and earn back her trust. Seven days filled with terrifying danger and sweet temptation. Seven days to win her heart—or shatter it all over again...

This is another of Jennifer’s series that I have been meaning to start for some time and I am glad that I did. Because come on, Gargoyles!! Who wouldn’t want to learn about them! Bitter Sweet was a fantastic beginning to the series, and I look forward to reading more.

Jas was heartbroken over the sudden departure of Dez three years ago. So when he suddenly returns, she is determined to keep him at arm’s length and make him work for her forgiveness. When she gives her ultimatum, he is determined to see it through.

It was sweet to see Jas and Dez together. They have a deep connection that was formed after Dez’s world was shattered when they were both young. I learned all their secrets and why they are hesitant, but it was great to see them come back to each other.

I enjoyed this first instalment of the series. I was able to get an understanding of the world, how the characters live, their lifestyles and how they shift into Gargoyles. It is very exciting and although this novella was not full of action, it opened my eyes to this new world. There were a few side characters that I liked too and I look forward to seeing more of them in upcoming books.

  8. Yay! I'm so glad to hear this is good, since I just got a copy of the second one, Stone Cold Touch at an event this weekend. I figured couldn't go wrong with Gargoyles and seems I was right! Now to get to the first one :)

I have had this one for awhile now and I need to read it. Honestly the gargoyles thing is what holds me back, old if I'll like it. But it's JLA so I have to get over it lol cause anything by her is freaking awesome. Have a good rest of the week :)

I think I'll like it just because JLA wrote it, that's enough for me to buy it but I have to be in the mood to read it. Her writing is really good and her plots are good too, so I'll give it a try soon :)
