My Review
My Soul to Keep is my favourite book in the series so far!! I saw a little more depth into the characters, their emotions were a bit in the air and there were some hard decisions to make. I liked how My Soul to Keep flowed straight on from the previous book, as demon’s breath becomes a focus in this book and we are already familiar with the villain. The storyline has become a little bit more personal and it affects people that are close to Kaylee.
Kaylee has a lot to deal with in this book. She has just finished her 1 month grounding and is happy to be let out again. Her relationship with Nash has been minimal as late, only seeing each other at school and for her lessons with Harmony at Nash’s place. You can see a little bit of strain in their relationship as Nash’s personality is a bit all over the place. He is trying to push Kaylee a little too far and I didn’t like that about him, although I did cheer to see a bit of a change in his personality, he wasn’t just being the yes man like he was previously. Kaylee has a little more respect for her father after all the trauma they’ve already been through and actually tries to lay most of the facts out for a change. She is becoming her own person in the Bean Sidhe world and is not just going with the flow. She’s not walking around with her rose coloured glasses on either, and is starting to see the people around her for who they really are.
I liked seeing a more human side to Tod and how the events that have unfolded affected him. He steps up to do his part in helping Kaylee and they make good partners in crime!! I really like Tod, he has lost so much and is willing to do what he can for the remainder of the people that he has left in his life.
The plot of My Soul to Keep had me hooked from the beginning and I couldn’t help but read until I was finished. The relationships between some of the characters become a bit complicated and it adds some spice to the book. I connected some of the dots before Kaylee did and was happy the book went in the direction that it did. The ending wasn’t quite a cliffhanger, but it left me wanting to jump straight into the next book to see how things are going to play out next.
