My Review
This is the first book that I have read of Lori Foster’s, so I was thrilled to participate in the tour and to see why Lori is such a brilliant romance author! Reading the first book in this series would've helped understand the storyline better, however reading it as a standalone was still awesome. Foster explained some of the previous details throughout the story so I was able to understand where the plot began and how the main characters knew each other.
I enjoyed the storyline and the chemistry of the characters. Reese is a detective and has had an attraction to Alice since he met her in Run The Risk and due to the circumstances that bought them together in that book, it has landed him on Alice's couch and therefore into her life. Alice has been watching Reese’s dog Cash while he is at work and is a common link that brings them even closer together as they are both very attached to the dog.
Alice has been in a horrible situation and in this book she needs to face those fears so she is able to find closure and to move on. She is a strong willed girl and will do anything in her power to stand on her own two feet. She has learnt the hard way that she can control her own destiny. She has courage and spunk but can be very unsure of her feelings when it comes to a man.
Reese is very honourable and a dedicated detective. He is a wall of hot man muscle that turns ladies heads no matter where he goes; he is the complete package. In Run The Risk, he managed to get himself into a situation where any other man would be quite embarrassed, where Reese takes it in his stride and moves on.
I enjoyed how these characters interacted; they are very aware of each other and fall quite hard and fast, even if they don't see it at first. The storyline is intense and the longer I read it, the more compelled I was to finish the book immediately. I am an action girl and it certainly picks up in the second half of the book where there are gunshots, black eyes and broken bones! Squee! The romance scenes are quite steamy and the first real kiss was beautiful! It was a captivating read and I'm looking forward to Getting Rowdy! (Rowdy and Avery’s book.)
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
