I picked this one up and I knew I needed to give it a try. Having only read one of Kate Stewarts books previously, and nothing by Heather M. Orgeron, I really didn't know how it would go,. However I was blown away with this read and so happy that I picked it up.

Briggs,
Remember when we parted ways in Germany? It was the day I broke your heart. What you didn't know was that I was breaking mine too.
I thought they'd be enough-my husband and my son. That I'd get home and everything would go back to the way it was . . .
Before the war.
Before the ambush.
Before you.
But, no matter how hard I try, I can't erase the trauma we shared. I can't seem to forget the way my heart beat in time with yours.
The truth is I'm lost without you.
I thought the nightmare was over when they pulled us from that hole in the ground, but nothing could have prepared me for the war I'd face at home. I know it's selfish of me to ask, but, please, I have to see you one last time. . .
All my love, Scottie

I don't know what I expected going into Heartbreak Warfare, but I can tell you I was not prepared for the emotional roller coaster that I went on! There were so many good moments, but there were some devastating ones too... I can't express how amazing this read was, but I'll give it a whirl!
Unless you have been to war, I don't think we can truly understand the impact it has on your life and how it can change you, and I am so happy to get a glimpse into it through Katy and Bishop's eyes. They both were very good at their job's and due to an ambush, their lives were changed forever. This aspect of the story made my heart ache, and even got to the point where it shattered for what they had to endure, and I only hoped that they would be able to become stronger on the other side.
It was hard watching Katy once she returned home. She certainly wasn't the same woman who left four months earlier. She struggled trying to fit back into her family life and the little things made her nervous. Bishop found it a little easier and although he couldn't forget the connection between himself and Katy, he did all he could to fit back into his normal life.
This story left such an impact on my soul that it is going to be a long time before I forget it. Bishop, Katy and her husband Gavin all struggled after Bishop and Katy returned from Baghdad. Katy had a lot of support, but was unable to find her feet. I was uncertain on the direction of the story, and I could understand Katy's decisions as she tried to find herself once again. I honestly think that this was a remarkable read, and I applaud the authors for tackling a storyline that can be so difficult and sensitive.

These teasers were certainly heart breakers...
“One last favor,” I ask before I lean down and whisper words I know she needs to hear from me. She nods as she grips me tightly to her. “Run far and fast, dance that sexy dance, have that second baby. Smile, Scottie. Lighten up, tell jokes, live a long and happy life, for me.”
“Please don’t hate me.”
“Not a fucking chance.”

“I’m not watching you do it again. I can survive being a soldier, I can survive another war, but it seems I can’t survive loving you. If I have to let you go, you have to let me go too.” He leans in on a whisper. “I love you, Katy, let me go.”
