I'm not sure what I expected form this read, but unfortunatley I was a little let down by it. I couldn't really connect to the characters and felt that their story was a little forced. It had asome good elements, but unfortunately, this one wasn't for me.
Title: His Royal Highness
Author: R.S. Grey
Genre: November 14th 2019
I’ve spent eight years wishing I’d fall out of love with Derek Knightley. Blowing out birthday candles, chasing after shooting stars, making it rain spare change into mall fountains—every time it’s the same wish: forget about Derek.
But the day he walks back into my life, I realize there are two things time has yet to soften: my feelings for him and his chiseled jawline.
It’s infuriating that my heart still races when he walks into a room. I refuse to fall prey to old unrequited love, so I decide the less I’m around him, the better. Avoidance is key.
Unfortunately, Derek isn’t going to make it easy. As a teenager, I would have crawled on my hands and knees to attract his attention. Now I can’t seem to escape it.
I’m not sure why he’s bothering. He’s not just out of my league—he’s out of my tax bracket. As the sole heir to the Knightley Company, he’s as close to American royalty as you can get. As for me, I’m just a part-time princess at Knightley’s flagship magical theme park.
I spend my days playing make-believe, but Derek has no use for fairytales. His unwavering confidence makes it clear he thinks I’ll surrender in the end.
He’s just biding his time.
Making me sweat.
His Royal Highness always gets what he wants.
And he wants me.

This is the second book I have read of R.S. Grey's and I was really drawn to the blurb of His Royal Highness, and was excited to give it a whirl. It wasn't exactly what I expected, so I think I was a little let down by it in the end.
Whitney was working at a theme park, which she seemed to think was her dream job. She was doing her own thing after living in the shadow of her sister for most of her life. The first time that Whitney and Derek met, I could see that he was genuinely interested in mentoring her, however, she was still young and he was still building his career.
Jump to the future, and they have both grown into strong adults. Whitney was trying desperately to squash whatever childhood feelings that he had for Evan, while Evan was looking at the beautiful woman that she had grown into and was attracted to her despite her feistiness.
I enjoyed watching Whitney and Evan work together and seeing the chemistry build between them. It saddened me the impact that Whitney's parents had on her life and her self esteem, but she had a good relationship with Derek's Grandfather. Whitney and Evan had amusing banter between them but for me though, it wasn't a book I loved. I felt a few situations were drawn out, so I would skim parts of the read. I also thought that Whitney wasn't as grown up as she was supposed to be and was still heavily tied to her past.
I enjoyed this sweet moment between Whitney and Evan.
Then, ever so gently, Derek reaches over and wraps a hand around my waist, tugging me against him and dropping a kiss to my hair. Tears spring back to my eyes, but they don’t blur the grin spreading across Cal’s face. “Well then, we’ll all go,” he says, sounding extremely pleased with himself.
