Pulse by Amity Cross ~ Review & Swoon Thursday (@amitycross)

After finishing Beat, I had to grab Pulse to see what happened to Ash and Ren! It was just as action packed as the first book with plenty of character and relationship growth.

Ren Miller never dreamed her life would turn out quite like this.

On the cusp of qualifying for the brand new woman's UFC league, she's finally found the thing that makes her tick. She finally has a whole new life before her, but it’s one that doesn't include Ash Fuller.

No one has seen or heard from Beat's Golden Boy in six months, not even Ren. He's disappeared off the face of the earth and he's just another person who's ended up abandoning her when she needed him the most. He broke her heart, but he took the one thing that was hers. Her spirit.

When someone unexpected turns up at Beat with an ultimatum, Ren must make a decision. Go after Ash and her own heart or make her Dad's dream of winning a Championship come true.

Will Ren choose to fight?

Or sacrifice everything to save the man she loves?

Pulse began six months after the end of Beat. Ren has been training like crazy since Ash left and is moving up in the AWUFC. She’s continued to fight in the underground and was doing well there as well. Whilst she was training at her father’s gym, she’s approached by a woman and her life is turned upside down. She not only knows where Ash is but wants Ren to help him live again.

I loved seeing more growth in Ren throughout Pulse. She had worked through a lot of her anger and channelled it into her fighting. She took her time to face Ash again, and even then was hesitant because he already broke her heart once.

Even Ash's anger was more focused in this book. He knew what he lost already and once he had Ren back was determined to keep her forever. But when his problems from the past returned, he needed to choose between keeping her safe forever, or to just keep Ren.

I love the bond Ash and Ren have with one another. They seem to complement one another and are better people together. They have a lot in common and their passion for each other continued soar.

I enjoyed seeing more of the secondary characters and the potential relationships forming throughout Pulse. I loved seeing more of Josie, the twins and another fighter, Hamish (I do love the Irish!). The relationship between Ren and her father was better too. He was there whenever Ren needed him and backed her with every decision she made.

Pulse was the perfect wrap up for Ren and Ash's story. They worked through some difficult issues and came out better in the end. I'm looking forward to more stories from this world, and I noticed that we'll revisit this couple again!! I have thoroughly enjoyed Amity Cross’s writing style, the action, the characters and the way she hooks me into her world’s!

*** Swoon Thursday was first bought to us by YA Bound. Since they are no longer with us, and with permission from Trisha Wolfe, I have decided that those of us that love to swoon need a central meet up point.  So here it is ladies! I have a link up for everyone at the bottom of the post you can add your swoons to, and I’ll set it up every week! So tell all other swooners out there to come on over, link up so we can visit each other! ***

This was a big moment for Ren and Ash... it certainly made me swoon!

“Ren?” he asked and I glanced up at him.
“Hmmm?”
“I love you.”
I froze; my body rigid against his.
“I love you,” he said again. “I have since that first night I found you training at Beat in the middle of the night. I just wish it hadn’t taken all this crap for me to realize it.”

Amity Cross
Amity Cross isn't her real name. That's no secret.
She is the author of wicked stories about rock stars looking for redemption, gritty romances featuring MMA fighters and dark tales of forbidden romance. She loves to write about screwed up relationships and kick ass female leads that don't take s**t lying down.
Amity lives in a leafy country town in southern Australia and can be found chained to her desk, held at ransom by her characters.
Don't send help. She likes it.
