It was meant to be the job opportunity of a life time.

It turned out to be so much more…

At the age of twenty five, Emma Lexington takes off to New York on a once in a life time twelve-month job exchange with the New York Warriors. Determined to make the most of the opportunity, she prepares herself for life in the big apple—fast paced, exciting and a whole lot of fun. What she hasn’t prepare for though, is meeting him.

The charming Will Jensen is in the prime of his playing career. As the star quarterback for the Warriors, his carefree, football centric life is thrown into disarray when he meets Emma, the beautiful, easy going Australian girl who joins the Warriors staff.

Unwilling to throw her professional reputation away on a fling with the playboy quarterback, Emma turns down Will’s advances, even though she can’t deny the attraction she feels for him. Their pull toward one another grows, but it takes a near disaster for Emma to finally give Will a chance.

Getting together might have been hard, but figuring out how to stay together will prove even more challenging as Emma must decide between conflicting loyalties.

Lexington and 42nd is a fun, sexy romance, set in the exciting world of the NFL in the fabulous city of New York.

I love a good sports romance, so when I read the description I knew I had to read Lexington and 42nd. Little did I know that Emma would be an Australian, on exchange from the Sydney Football Club! So, of course I connected to Emma immediately! And it was written by a fellow Australian, so of course it was an irresistible read for me!

I loved how career driven Emma was; she concentrated on her job and took it quite seriously. She works closely with the team, setting up promotional functions that they need to attend, formal or just on field with a bunch of kids. She was determined not to fall for the smooth talking, persistent quarterback, Will. However, the more time they spent together, the harder it was to push Will away.

I loved Will, too! He came across all confident, self assured and a bit of a playboy, but he hadn’t let anyone in close before. He let his walls down around the sassy Australian and soon wanted more than just friendship with her. He was such a fun guy to read about… he made me laugh, swoon and my heart broke for him too as he put his feelings out there and let a girl in close.

There were hurdles along the way; what happened with Will’s family was hilarious to me, but Emma was quite ashamed by it! She found it hard to relax around them after that. Emma’s career was another factor, knowing she was representing her company and her country, she doesn’t want to fail. There was also a time limit on how long she’s staying too, so that was always in the back of her mind.

Lexington and 42nd is Kim Carmody’s debut novel, and I was surprised as to how good it was for her first published book. There was plenty of emotion and turmoil entwined throughout the story. It was entertaining, with plenty of flirting between the characters, and some sizzling hot moments. I was introduced to some fantastic secondary characters, one of which played a big role on helping Emma and Will, and I can’t wait to see more of Buck. I am keen to continue to read more of Carmody’s work in the future!

I have two swoons today! I sweet one, and one that made me smile!

“I’m sorry.” His head bent to nuzzle my collarbone, his voice muffled. “I shouldn’t have left without kissing you.”
And then he did kiss me. His lips moved against mine, soft yet determined, coaxing my mouth open. I obliged, kissing him back with the same enthusiasm, unable to keep from grabbing hold of his hair, pulling him as close as possible. He pulled my bottom lip into his mouth, sucking, causing my body to bow against his. I felt my legs sag, and then I was being held up by him, his arm around my waist, pulling me against his body. I sucked on his tongue, catching it between my teeth and eliciting a strangled moan.

“You’re perfect, Em.”
“I’m sorry, what?”
Will frowned. “What?”
“What did you just say?”
“I said sounds perfect, Em. Why, what did you think I said?”
I shook my head. “Nothing, I must have misheard you.”

Kim Carmody lives in Australia with her husband, in a sunny little part of Melbourne that she never wants to leave. Except for frequent trips to New York, she is happy to leave at least once a year for those.

She holds a Masters in Commerce Marketing and while she spent her younger years training to become a professional dancer, she somehow ended up working in the sports industry, where she met her now husband. Never a participant or spectator of sport growing up (she was too busy flitting around in a tutu), she has grown to appreciate, if not love many sports and eventually found herself writing about them too.

As an avid book lover from the moment she was introduced to The Babysitters Club as a seven year-old, Kim never expected to be able to call herself an author, but is beyond excited that she now can.

Lexington and 42nd is her first novel.
