This is the fifth book in Jeannie Moon's Forever Love series and is great to read as a standalone. It was a sweet read and when I finished it I was left feeling happy!
Title: The Boyfriend List
Author: Jeannie Moon
Series: Forever Love #5
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Published: July 21st 2015
"Jeannie Moon always delivers a feel-good, warm-your-heart…story,"(New York Times bestselling author Carly Phillips) and now the author of The Second Chance Hero and The Wedding Secret does it again with her new Forever Love Story…
Jenna Albanese planned it all out at thirteen when she listed the qualities she wanted in her perfect man. Years later, she thought she’d found him. When all she got was a broken heart, Jenna tucked away the boyfriend list—and her belief in happy ever after.
Nate Bayard has a life most people only dream of—he’s a handsome high-caliber polo player and partner in a multibillion dollar business. But as intelligent and confident as he is on the field and in the boardroom, he’s hopeless with women—until he meets the sweet and funny Jenna. She’s just about perfect, and Nate’s determined to make her his. There’s just one little problem. Jenna’s unwelcome past is about to make a comeback.
For Jenna, overcoming her mistrust in men—particularly rich ones—isn’t going to be easy. Then she comes across that old boyfriend list and realizes that maybe it’s time for another look and a few changes to bring a brand new beat to her romantic heart.

When I grabbed this book, I did so without realising it was the fifth book in the series. However, each book features a different couple, so even though the other characters make appearances throughout the book, other than wondering the details on how they got together, it didn’t matter that I hadn’t read their stories.
The Boyfriend List features Jenna and Nate, and it was a really cute read. I learned that they met almost a year ago and had a crush on one another, but never acted on their feelings as they thought the other person didn’t like them. Once they got past that awkwardness, their true passion was revealed and the whirlwind romance began.
I liked Jenna; she has been through so much and is still struggling to find her feet again. She is a little hesitant to start anything with Nate, but he is persistent, and hell, she is a girl with needs! Nate was just the perfect guy! He was willing to do everything he could to win Jenna over. Little by little he did things that made her happy and she opened up to him.
Jenna’s boyfriend list was a sweet part of this story. The friendships she still had with her childhood friends were still strong and it was cute to see that the list was part of their history. I loved how each chapter began with a line from the list and saw Nate fulfil each requirement made me like him even more.
Jenna and Nate’s journey was beautiful. They had a lot of hurdles to overcome: family, their pasts and new twists in the road, but together they were a strong team. Their families were a bit harder to win over, but I was glad to see them stand together and not back down. I liked how the story wove together, and was done well in the third person perspective. I am glad I gave this story a try, because it was a sweet read that I devoured in a day, and I would definitely read more from this author in the future!

“Hey! Why does he get a biscuit?” His father was like a slighted child.
Sally closed her eyes, stuck her freckled nose in the air, and turned back to her cooking. “I like him.”
His father took his coffee and an apple and stormed out the door at the rear of the kitchen. “If you don’t see me when you come down to the barn, Nathaniel, it’s because I’m dead from starvation. Tell your mum good-bye for me.”

Jeannie Moon is a school librarian who loves that she has a job which allows her to immerse herself in good books and call it work. A native Long Islander, Jeannie still lives there with her family and a couple of well-behaved dogs and an equally misbehaving cat.

ReplyDeleteI've stayed away lately from books in a series only because of withdrawal associated once you finish one of the books, and having to wait for the next release. (lol) This book sounds like a good one, and your review is awesome! Hugs...Ro
