The author of Flirting with Scandal presents her second book in a sexy contemporary romance series about three sisters in a powerful political family, the scandals that threaten to destroy them, and the passion that drives them…

The daughter of one of the Senate's most powerful figures, Blair Reynolds was ready to become the ultimate political wife—until she caught her fiancé cheating on her wedding day. Law school is a fresh start, her shot at putting the pieces of her life back together. That’s the plan, at least. Until trouble comes in the form of her Torts professor, the man whose arrogance infuriates her in class but haunts her private fantasies.

Graydon Canter had a fortune and a place on all the hottest "Thirty under Thirty” lists, until a series of personal missteps nearly destroyed his career. A year teaching at a D.C. law school is just the break he needs to get his life back in order, as long as nothing—and no one—trips him up.

When Blair and Gray are forced to work together, their explosive attraction becomes impossible to resist. But Gray’s demons have drawn him dangerously close to the edge, and Blair has spent her life playing by the rules. Will she break them for a shot at love?

I have been a fan of Chanel Cleeton’s since I picked up her first book, I See London, back in March 2014. Playing with Trouble is the second book in her new series, and although it’s not as heavy on the politics like the first book, it shows how hard life is for the daughter of a senator. Blair was introduced in the first book and turned out to be an important person to both Will and Jackie. She had been through so much and deserved to find her true love, so I was excited to meet the guy that would be her soul mate.

Blair is really a nice girl. I saw her struggle throughout this book, with her study choices, her relationship with her parents and what she wanted for the future. Law school was hard for her and more so with a professor that singles her out in class that she secretly fantasises about! I really enjoyed this aspect and liked how they both understood their boundaries. There was no denying the chemistry between them, but they both were hesitant to start something that could ruin the other.

Gray’s past holds him back, and he’s trying to keep in line. It made me sad to think what he went through, but he was man enough to own his mistakes and work past them. His attraction to Blair makes it extremely hard to keep his nose clean though.

I liked seeing the relationship between Blair and Gray grow. Even though the sexual chemistry is off the charts, they learned to respect one another despite their pasts. It took time for these two to get together and I thought that it was done in a sweet but also professional way. They were not always perfect, they made mistakes and had helluva self control! I loved the way Chanel Cleeton bought their story together, threw in glimpses of characters that I met in the first book, and she left me hanging over Kate! That is one book I want now!

“The Blair you give me—this girl that’s black lace and baking cookies and a mouth that’s either putting me in my place or giving me the best fucking kisses I’ve ever had—is that you?”

Her lips curved, and she nodded, her eyes soft.

“You should let everyone else see that Blair. Not the kissing part,” I amended. “I’m fine with you just keeping that to me. But the rest of it. She’s pretty amazing.”

“I jumped my professor in his living room at two a.m. I’m pretty sure that kind of behavior wouldn’t go over so well.”

My hands drifted down to her ass, pulling her tightly toward me. “It went over pretty well with me.”

She grinned. “Yeah, I guess it did.”

Originally a Florida girl, CHANEL CLEETON moved to London where she received a bachelor’s degree from Richmond, The American International University in London and a master’s degree from the London School of Economics and Political Science. Chanel fell in love with London and planned to stay there forever, until fate intervened on a Caribbean cruise and a fighter pilot with smooth dance moves swept her off her feet.

Now, a happily ever after later, Chanel is living her next adventure. Law school made Chanel realize she’d rather spend her days writing sexy stories than in a courtroom, and she hasn’t looked back since. An avid reader and hopeless romantic, she’s happiest curled up with a book. She has a weakness for handbags, her three pups, and her husband.

Chanel writes contemporary romances. She is published by Harlequin HQN, Penguin/InterMix, and Penguin/Berkley and is the author of the International School, Capital Confessions, and Wild Aces series.

  1. This couple definitely sounds hot! And I love the chemistry they seem to have. I love it when couples take a while to get together because all the instalove tends to get old after a while. :)

  2. Respect for the respect! Any relationship that lacks it is doomed to fail, in my opinion. No matter how great the sex!

  3. I read I See London and didn't care for it. I haven't read anything else by this author. I always shy away from teacher/student books. This is college though so it might be okay. Sounds like there's some good growth for these two too. Nice review.

  4. I love that they were so professional and respected each other. Sometimes holding off while having great chemistry is even hotter.
