After a car accident killed her parents when she was a child, Bronagh Murphy chose to box herself off from people in an effort to keep herself from future hurt. If she doesn't befriend people, talk to them or acknowledge them in any way they leave her alone just like she wants.
When Dominic Slater enters her life, ignoring him is all she has to do to get his attention. Dominic is used to attention, and when he and his brothers move to Dublin, Ireland for family business, he gets nothing but attention. Attention from everyone except the beautiful brunette with a sharp tongue.
Dominic wants Bronagh and the only way he can get to her, is by dragging her from the boxed off corner she has herself trapped in the only way he knows how...by force.
Dominic wants her, and what Dominic wants, Dominic gets.

When I picked up Dominic, I was hoping it was going to be a fun read, and boy was it ever! Most of the time while I was reading this book I had a grin on my face and there were many times that I was laughing hard out loud! It really was a book that I could connect to, because I could see a lot of myself in the main character.
Dominic is set in Ireland and the writing in this book portrays just that. Bronagh is the main character and she is just hilarious. She never took the deaths of her parents well, so she is a bit of a loner at school and doesn’t have any friends. When two American twin boys turn up at her school and she finds them in her seat, her world is turned upside down! She feels that she is being bullied by Nico, (but in my head I was thinking he was being mean because he liked her) and is constantly in a battle with him over something… particularly, her arse! It was amusing to see the banter that went back and forth between them, and I was often cracking up.
Dominic can definitely be described as an 18yo alpha male. He keeps coming at Bronagh, pushing all her buttons, trying to get a rise out of her, but she keeps pushing him away. I loved how quirky Bronagh was and always had a witty remark to sling back when Dominic would say something to her. But like every girl, she had her limits, and she would crumble at times. Seeing how both characters reacted in these instances was very interesting and sweet sometimes too.
There is a hint of danger in this book and it was an intriguing twist to the storyline. I could see Dominic and his family were hiding something, but I had no idea to the depth of that secret. I also loved the side characters introduced: Bronagh’s sister Branna and all the Slater brothers, Ryder, Kane, Alec and Damien. They all had small parts in this story and I loved each and every one of them! I am definitely keen to read more in this series, I tell you!
Love books that make me laugh!

ReplyDeleteIt was more fun, i tell ya! I love the cover too!
ReplyDeleteMe too! Great to have something not so dark!
ReplyDeleteI haven't really read any in Ireland, so I loved this!!
ReplyDeleteWell, the cover made me think the characters would be older than 18. I'm glad Dominic was so much fun, Naomi. I like the sound of Bronagh - her quirkiness. And I like that there's a wonderful cast of characters. And *sigh* it's in Ireland. That's a place I love reading about because I so want to visit there. :) Dominic is going on my tbr. Nice review, girl!
ReplyDeleteThere is a bigger time gap between this one and the next. It is great to see them all a bit older. You would REALLY enjoy this one, I tell ya Brandee... just when everything is going well, throw in a huge twist! Remind you of anyone??? Lol
ReplyDeleteWhen I saw that you reviewed this, I had to know what you thought!! I got this book awhile ago but haven't gotten to it for some unknown freaking reason. I met Lee at the Tampa Mashup and she is absolutely adorable, I love her accent, she is so sweet and easy going. So I have this book in my kindle and as a signed paperback, can you say overboard? I can, lol.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I'm so glad that you loved this book! I love how you and I are so similar. So I gotta get to this one soon cause I wanna let Lee know how much more I'll love her. I know you read Alec already so I gotta get a move on lol.
Well, making that comparison ensures I'll be reading it much sooner than later. ;)
ReplyDeleteYes girl! Get onto it! This was a really great read! I am loving the whole series actually. And the irish girls are such a hoot... the Slater brothers... dayum!!
ReplyDeleteOh yay! I haven't read anything Irish before so I can't wait.
