Ethan Frost returns in the breathtaking conclusion to New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Tracy Wolff’s seductive novel Ruined—perfect for fans of Release Me and Bared to You.As Chloe Girard discovers, there’s love . . . and then there’s addiction.Ethan Frost is everything a woman could want in a man. He’s rich, gorgeous, powerful, one of the most eligible bachelors in the world. But that’s not why I’m with him.I love Ethan for all the things no one else gets to see: his innate kindness, his reckless spontaneity, his unwavering determination to use his brilliance for good. I love the way he looks at me, the way he touches me. The way he makes me forget the wreckage of my past and the twisted fear that still lives inside me.
But sometimes it terrifies me how much I crave him, how much I need him just to breathe. I always thought it would be my past that ruined us, but there’s a darkness in Ethan I never dreamed existed. Can we survive as his secrets surface—threatening to unravel us both?
The Ethan Frost series has been on my mind since I read Ruined in November last year. It ended with me gasping and I have been dying to see what happened next. Let me tell you that it was a fantastic continuation in the series and although things were difficult for Chloe, I really enjoyed how things finished in this series.
In the last book I learnt of Chloe's secrets, but it wasn't until the end that I found out how closely entwined her life has been with Ethan’s. In Addicted, I was happy with how she dealt with the news and took the time to work things through her mind. She didn't let Ethan back in immediately (however, I would've loved for that blender to be returned for good *wink*) and he really did have to work hard to prove himself. Chloe really struggled in the first part of the book, but it was part of the process of trying to move on. Ethan tried his best to draw her back to him, but everything from Chloe's past is embedded deep and it is understandable why she cannot take him back.
But, like every great romance, they do come back together. They can't sweep it under the rug, but they do their best to work through it. There are constant hurdles for them, but they talk it out more. Ethan really is the sweetest and in this book I realised how hard he has fallen for Chloe. Chloe is an amazing person, being through what she has and she manages to find a way to get past her demons.
Ethan struggles to do the right thing in this story, just when everything seems to be going ok, he does something silly or holds back. I just wanted to shake him! Chloe's yo-yo ways could be the death of anyone, but looking at the bigger picture and her life struggles, you can see why. She really needs to think things through so she doesn't turn back into the girl after the ‘incident.’
I just love Tracy's writing! She drags me into her worlds and I get swept away in the plot. The Ethan Frost series deals with a difficult issue that happened in high school, and shows what can happen if not dealt with correctly. Money, power and selfishness can influence our lives more than we know. I think that Tracy has done a tasteful job of telling Chloe’s story and I am a little sad to see it end, but I loved that Epilogue and I’m happy to see it wrapped up nicely! I’m super excited to see what Tracy has for us next!

I don't think I've read this author. Hmmm...off to check.
ReplyDeleteI haven't read this series so I don't have a favorite thing about Ethan. But I am glad that Addicted wraps things up in a satisfying way.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds pretty angsty, Naomi. But it also sounds fantastic! I'm intrigued by whatever it is that affected Ethan and Chloe since high school. And I'm glad Ethan had to work hard to win Chloe back and that their relationship was important enough for them to work at it.
So Naomi, is it Ethan Frost or Extreme Risk I should read first?? ;)
I love all her work that I have read so far!
ReplyDeleteOh god! The decisions!! They are both completely different... Billionaire v's snowboarders. This has one POV where the ER series is duel. Both series will stick with you, like I said, I have had the first one in this series on the brain since November... So hard!! If you want a faster paced read.. ER!
