Review ~ Torn from You by Nashoda Rose

Torn from You (Tear Asunder, #1)Title: Torn from You
Author: Nashoda Rose
Series: Tear Asunder #1
Genre: Dark Contemporary Romance
Published: December 20th 2013

Love is like an avalanche. It hits hard, fast and without mercy.

At least it did for me when Sculpt, the lead singer of the rock band Tear Asunder knocked me off my feet. Literally, because he’s also a fighter, illegally of course, and he taught me how to fight. He also taught me how to love and I fell hard for him. I mean the guy could do sweet, when he wasn't doing bossy, and I like sweet.

Then it all shattered.

Kidnapped.
Starved.
Beaten.
I was alone and fighting to survive.
When I heard Sculpt's voice, I thought he was there to save me.

I was wrong.

(It is highly recommended to read "With You" the novella first).

*Warning: This book contains some disturbing situations, strong language and sexual content. Over 18 years.

This is a love story with some dark elements. Dark contemporary romance. No cliffhanger and next in the Tear Asunder series is Ream's story (the band's lead guitarist).

Holy crap!!! This book is so gut wrenching! In the beginning I experienced a sweet and tender moment then in the next chapter I was thrust into a dark, dark world that fractured my heart, then took away piece by piece, then it would fix a little only to be broken once again. It was so intense I could not pull myself away from the pages.

Emily went through a horrific time in the first section of this book. She started out as a strong confident kind of girl but she was soon turned into a quivering mess. The torment and dark situations she witnessed would give anyone nightmares, and I just couldn't tear myself away from the book.

Two years after this ordeal, Eme has somewhat moved on, until Sculpt comes back into her life. She learns more about him and the things that went down and my heart shattered once again knowing Sculpt’s past. Things were way more complicated than anyone would've thought. Eme has to learn to trust again and is unsure of how to let anyone, let alone Sculpt, back past her walls.

There were some amazing secondary characters introduced in this story. They are very supportive of Eme and Sculpt. The band members are quirky, but willing to do anything for one another. Eme's friends are her family and never stop fighting for her. And Sculpt… Well I'll leave him to be a mystery, there are times you love him, then you question his decisions, just like Eme did. But now that I'm finished the story, I understood why he did what he did.

I loved this story and how the author had me gripping the pages. It was such an emotional ride and I couldn't believe how dark it was in places. To be stripped of all your defences is just devastating. I will definitely read more books relating to this series, I am curious about a lot of characters… I must read more!!

  6. s a reader these types of stories can be hit or miss. I really think the combination of gag manga and sitcom romance replica watches uk is one that is particular to specific sentimentalities. Fortunately for me this volume was perfectly suited to me. As the leads and their rivals were clearly established the tension really came through well. Finally these rolex replica character have advanced from unconditional school crushes to memorable moments of heartache/heartbreak. That's an important step in any romance's development. But for this title replica watches that allowed for real belly laughs, tender moments and a new dynamic as character development seeped in. You know how you feel when you asked people to grow up? School Rumble's cast did and it was very refreshing especially in this heat.

I just read the 3 books in this series and I have specific thoughts about them as individual books and I have an overall opinion as well and I'll tell you on my review *wink*. I might do the three reviews in one post.

I loved your review though, I also could not take my attention away from this book, it was like a train wreck happening, I had to stop and look and I had to know how it ended. It's not an offence to the book at, it;s just that what was happening was so bad I thought 'wow this is bad, like really bad' Idk how someone can get passed everything she went through and I'm so glad she was a strong girl. I would be broken. I just kept hoping the entire time that worse things wouldn't happen to her. I'm glad you liked it :)

OMG Overwhelmed By You broke my heart. I had to skip through a few scenes because I couldn't take it. Maybe you saw it coming but I didn't, there are sick people in this story and it freaked me the hell out. I still really liked the story and I'm glad I read it but there were things I thought I knew to have them be turned around on its ass. No lie this book surprised me in good and bad ways. The bad guys were just the worse of the worse but Ream and Kat were so good together. I try not to read books this dark because they undo me, I'm too emotional and it always gets to me, but I do it sometimes because in the end it's worth it to read about amazing characters and I love cheering for them <3

  21. I loved it! It was a heartbreaking read and I knew it'd be dark... You could see it with the little teasers at the start of the chapters... loved those. But that Alexa... I wanted to take her down!!

Oh yeah I wanted to choke her, what a psycho! She got off way too easy, but at least we have peace of mind now. This book surprised me so many times.
