In the book blurb, Three’s a Crowd is described as ‘Sex
and the City meets The Devil Wears Prada.’ I could not agree more!! I had a
lot of fun reading this book! There were plenty of snarky comments, lots of guy
issues and plenty of times when a girl needs to have a drink with friends!! It
was a light, witty contemporary read that takes one Aussie girl into the fun of
New York!!
Elan and her closest friend Lily, which
she grew up with in Australia, made the big move to New York. They have their dream jobs and have
awesome friends. Both girls have boyfriends and life seems to be great for them
both. Elan landed a great opportunity to edit Rox Wriothesly’s book, and after
their run-in at the office, she is finding it difficult to track him down. Her
relationship with Hunter becomes tense and her other childhood friend returns
to New York to shake her life up further.
Three’s a Crowd was an
entertaining read, that’s for sure! So many quirky things happen to Elan and
she has that type of nature where she is able to brush it off or take advantage
of the situation. She hits top bars and parties with her wealthy friends, helps
out with work functions and is willing to bail someone out of ‘The Tombs’. She
is the type of girl who easily makes friends and I liked seeing her life
unfold.
Her closest friends have always been
Lily and Luke and it was interesting to see their pasts unravel. All three
characters have serious parental issues, which is probably another reason for
them to be so close. Elan is the only one who knows Lily and Lukes darkest
secrets, so they constantly rely on her. They all become close again in this
story, which was good to see and they support each other through anything.
Elan has a great group of friends in
and outside of work and they all put their own unique spin in Elans life. Hunter,
I found him to be a bit controlling, but he made her happy. Rox was fun to read
about, with his British accent and flirtatious attitude! He always manages to
get on Elans nerves and I liked watching their relationship grow! And all the
other girlfriends that she meets up with on girls night out!!
This book was fun to read from start to
finish! I was unsure whether or not Elan would maintain the same boyfriend to
the final page. It was entertaining to watch her unravel her feelings and how
the guys fit in her life. She deals with a lot of parental issues that make any
girl uncomfortable. I would've preferred more swoons moments, but this book was
fun for me! I will definitely pick up another book from Edwina Darke!
I received a copy of this book from the
Publisher, via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
This one sounds really fun! I don't read much chick lit, but sometimes it's fun to give a new genre a try!
