Review ~ Rock It by Jennifer Chance

Rock It (Rule Breakers #1)Title: Rock It
Author: Jennifer Chance
Series: Rule Breakers #1
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Published: March 4th 2014

Jennifer Chance unleashes her hot new series with the tale of a smoldering rocker and the fangirl who catches his eye—and finds herself living out her wildest dreams.

Lacey Dawes is a total pro at the talent agency where she works, and it doesn’t hurt that IMO Worldwide Media represents Dante Falcone. The rock god has starred in her fantasies since she was sixteen—and remains her secret crush to this day. So when Dante picks her to be the interim manager on his Dream It tour, Lacey can’t believe her luck. Handling Dante is sure to be the most exquisite, spine-tingling, nerve-wracking mix of business and pleasure ever.

Although Dante is grateful for the adoring fans who scream for one more of his full-throttle, soul-searing songs, being surrounded by a cadre of corporate types backstage is wearing thin. Then Lacey shows up. Yeah, she’s organized, smart, quick to get him what he wants before he knows he wants it—but Dante senses there’s something else going on with sweet, sexy Lacey. One kiss tells him what that “something” might be . . . and makes him hungry for more.
I love a good rock romance, so I was keen to get my hands on this one! Rock It was a little different from some of the other rock band books that I have read, because the girl in particular used to be a crazed fan when she was younger. It was interesting to see how she handled things now that she is an adult. She has to interact with him face-to-face and in the end, daily for two weeks of touring. It was amusing, intense and steamy!!

Lacey was a hardcore fan of Dante Falcone’s when she was growing up. So hardcore that she went to multiple concerts and created scrap books about his career in the spotlight. Now she is a junior executive in a firm that represents him, and will meet him personally. What she doesn’t see coming, is Dante asking her to be his interim manager for the rest of the tour. There is something about Lacey that he is drawn to and he wants to explore it further.

Lacey was a sweet character and I liked seeing her come out of her shell. She has moved passed her shyness and is willing to step up and take on the role. She knows Dante better than he knows himself and uses all of her knowledge to her own advantage, even when her nasty boss tries to take over and throws things into chaos.

Dante was an entertaining character and I liked how Lacey peeled back his layers. He comes across all cocky and confident, but he has feelings and dreams other than being the person who he is currently portrayed as. He can also see past Lacey’s walls and wants her more than anything.

It was amusing to see these two interact. They have a strong connection and the chemistry is sizzling. Some situations arise that make their relationship difficult, but they work together to resolve the issues. They each have secrets, but when they are revealed it makes them fall a little harder for each other. I enjoyed the authors writing style, alternating 3rd person perspectives, so I could understand both of the characters. A few of the situations I found a little hard to believe, but it was cute to see it unfold for these characters. I am looking forward to more books in this series and from this author for sure!!

  1. I love a character with layers, Naomi! ;) Rock It does sound like a great book. I love that Lacey was enamored of Dante as a teen and then gets to really know him as an adult. I also like that Dante is deeper than his 'stage' persona...that seems realistic. Lovely review, my dear. I'm adding this one to my tbr.

Great review, I'm so glad you liked it. I loved this book! There were cute moments that I loved and I really liked that she was a huge fan of his but had o act normal. Which is kinda hard but she did good. Rock star romances are one of my favorites, I've recently discovered that lol. I reviewed this one back in February before it came out & I'm so glad I got to read it. Here's my post if you wanna check it out.
