When Tucker Branch, playboy heir to Branch Bolt and Screw, screws and bolts a week before their wedding, Mia Devine wants nothing more than to crawl under her newly monogrammed sheets and plan a funeral for her dignity. But her friends convince her that bitter tastes better when it’s drowned in Bordeaux, so Mia grits her teeth and packs her bags, determined to make the best of her luxurious Paris honeymoon—alone.
She never planned on meeting Lucas Fournier.
The easygoing bartender’s scruffy good looks and less-than-sympathetic ear annoy her at first, but when she takes him up on his offer to show her around the city, she discovers that the romance of Paris isn’t just a myth.
Nor is the simultaneous O.
The last thing Mia needs is another doomed love affair, but since she only has a week, she figures she might as well enjoy la vie en O with Lucas while she can. But each day—and night—with Lucas is better than the last, and suddenly her heart is telling her this is more than a rebound fling.
Is it just the seduction of Paris…or could this be the real thing?
When I read the description to this book I was intrigued… I started reading about Mia, a broken girl who was left devastated when her fiancé broke up with her via TEXT MESSAGE, a week before the VERY expensive wedding that she planned. She was wallowing in self pity and cutting the ex’s initials out of her new linens (which was quite amusing for me), when her friends convince her to go on the Honeymoon to Paris, that the ex payed for. She is soon packed and sent on the trip alone.
Mia’s first night in Paris was not as fun as she hoped, because she visited the places she planned in her itinerary, only to be surrounded by happy people IN LOVE! Did they not know her issues?? So somehow she wanders and ends up at a Canadian bar, in a foul mood, facing down a bar tender, who does not own a comb or a razor?! And now she wants to catch the next flight home. What she didn't expect was said bartender to dare her into allowing him to show her the sights and convince her to stay. Annnnd that begins their whirl-wind romance!
Mia… I loved her and all her quirks! She is a list girl who plans everything! She has list for her days in Paris, even the clothes she should wear each day. She even makes little lists throughout the book which I often found funny. It was amusing to see her fly by the seat of her pants and step out of her comfort zone, especially around Lucas! He shows her things that she didn’t even think existed!!
OMG LUCAS! I loved him so much! The flirty bartender/teacher/musician… So, so hot! And the way he treats Mia… I tell you, he is to die for. Previously, Mia’s sexual experiences have been quite tame due to the boring fiancé, but Lucas shows her all the good things that he can do to her body and their chemistry literally explodes!! He is the sweetest, most perfect guy and I enjoyed reading about him.
This was quite the light hearted read and I enjoyed it right to the very end. Reading Mia's little lists as she evaluated everything, bouncing ideas off her friend Coco and even exploring Paris were all things I found entertaining. I liked the authors writing style and I was so relaxed travelling with Mia. One scene in particular, we visited a gallery and I was imagining a sculpture the author was describing and I flicked the page to see it… Simply amazing. I loved this book and I’m glad things turned out like they did. If you are looking for a fun read about love and soul mates, in the most romantic city in the world, this is the one for sure!

ReplyDeleteOh this sounds so good! Her ex sounds like a douche bag, breaking up their engagement via text message! Ugh!!! I love how the main character went from a very structured planner, to an adventurous. fly by the seat of her pants girl, once she met Lucas! He sounds like the full package! Great Review Naomi :)
