My Review

OMG!! Where to begin? The Eternity Cure was an unbelievable second book to the series!! I was mesmerized from the very beginning and found it extremely difficult to put it down!! If I didn’t have to attend to my duties of being a wife and a mother, I would have locked myself away from the world and read it from cover to cover!

The story continues on after the end of The Immortal Rules, the world is still in turmoil and Allie is on the trail of her maker, Kanin, who has been Vamp-napped by a psycho vamp and is being continually tortured and dragged across the country. Her first goal is to rescue him and then she hopes that together they may be able to find a cure.

Allie’s character has continued to develop during this book. She knows that she cannot survive without human blood, but is not a ruthless killer. Those who cross her are the only ones that she hunts. The time on her own has hardened her, but she is still a good person. She spends some of her time reminiscing about Zeke, the guy she left behind in the first book, but she is focused on her goal.

We cross paths with some memorable characters from the first book and some that surprised me!! I would love to run through them with you, but it would give too much away. Let’s just say that there are friends who become enemies, villains who become allies and bad guys who are still nasty!

Kagawa kept me on the edge of my seat from start to finish. I was constantly guessing the direction of the story and often questioning who Allie could trust. It was a bit of an emotional story in the end and it is far from over. The plot building was amazing and I was caught in the scene building constantly, she is very descriptive in building the surroundings. The characters are great and they each have their flaws, but together they function as an amazing team! By the final page I had tears in my eyes and now I will be hanging for the next book. ARGH!!

Thank you to Harlequin Australia for supplying me with a copy of this book, in exchange for an honest review.

Love Undercover #2
Published  April 30th 2013

I received this book as part of a tour I am hosting on my blog and had to share a tease.... and only 4 sentences! Yay!

He cupped the back of her neck, his mood shifting in some intense, indefinable way. “Now seems like a good time for that kiss we discussed.”

Before she could even absorb what he’d said, he touched his mouth to hers, warm, barely there at first, then more firmly. He moved his mouth over hers, parting her lips, angling his head to fit her more surely.

My Review

Hope continued on a few months after the end of Power. There is still danger on earth as the apocalypse is still on the horizon, the four horsemen are still here and the Rising are trying to open the fifth seal. Life for Allison will continue as normal as she can; her daughter is getting closer to her 6th birthday, she is engaged to her soul mate, David and they are planning their wedding. However, they will work together with the council to try and uncover Lilith’s plans and to figure out a way to save the earth.

I enjoyed how easily the story flowed from Power into Hope; the relationship between Allison and David continues to blossom and their passion sky rockets!! David is a descendant of Catsafonda, so he will remain chaste until he is married… He cannot physically move to third base until the Priest says those magic words!! However, once he does, their love for one another continues to grow and my heart swells for them both! There are still details that remain uncovered about them both that could lead to the prophecy being fulfilled.

In Power Damien died, so Lilith has stepped up to be Leader of the Rising. She is pure evil and nothing will stand in her way of her goal. There are things that even she can’t predict but she will use it to twist it to her advantage. She sets a lot of plans into action and pushes her subjects to their limits. I really don’t like Lilith, but she is a helluva badgirl!! If I met that dropdead gorgeous woman in a dark alley, I’d be scared out of my pants, she may appear all innocent on the outside, but she has a black soul!! Her followers hate her but respect her as a leader, as she wields a lot of Power!

Theresa has done a terrific job with the second book of this series. The plot grew effortlessly and the change of POV’s kept me captivated!! So much happened in this book and you can see that the story is still building for future books. There were so many new elements introduced in this book, some I predicted, others I didn’t and I can’t wait to see what Theresa will do next!!

I received a copy of this book from the Author in exchange for an honest review.

Cover Reveal – Until I Break by M. Leighton

Title: Until I Break (A Twisted Novel)
Author: M. Leighton
Publisher: M. Leighton
Release date: May 14, 2013
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Age Group: Adult
Cover reveal organized by: AToMR Tours

Laura Drake is an author. She writes bestselling paranormal romances that continue to top the charts. She is sharp. She is confident. She is in control.

And she doesn’t exist.

Samantha Jansen is the woman behind the wig, the woman most of the world doesn’t know exists. She is shy. She is insecure. She is nothing like her main character or her alter ego. She is scarred—deeply scarred—by a past she can’t let go of and a present she can’t make peace with.

Samantha’s dreams are consumed by one man, the broken hero from her books. Mason Strait is both her wildest fantasy and her most terrifying nightmare.

When Samantha meets Alec Brand, a corporate consultant, it is as though Mason has come to life. Alec is handsome to a fault, as elegant as he is arrogant, and more intense than any man has a right to be.

Samantha is soon sucked into a world that mirrors the fiction she writes. Just like her main character, Daire Kirby, Samantha finds herself unable to resist the forbidden lure of Alec. And just like Daire, she also finds that she is faced with taking a chance on a man who could either set her free or destroy her.

The scale tilts toward destruction when Samantha finds out that Alec is as much a work of fiction as Mason. And he has scars of his own, scars that could ruin them both.

I have had a better week this week, been able to read a few books and caught up on some stuff. No netball for me for a couple more weeks… which is a bummer, because I love to play.

Free

I read this book originally, but I noticed it has been revised from YA to NA. It has more violence and sexual content… that’s gotta be a plus, right?

Review – The Collector by Victoria Scott

Title: The Collector
Author: Victoria Scott
Series: Dante Walker #1
Genre: YA Paranormal Romance
Published: March 25th 2013

Book Description

He makes good girls...bad.

Dante Walker is flippin’ awesome, and he knows it. His good looks, killer charm, and stellar confidence have made him one of hell’s best—a soul collector. His job is simple: weed through humanity and label those round rears with a big red good or bad stamp. Old Saint Nick gets the good guys, and he gets the fun ones. Bag-and-tag.

Sealing souls is nothing personal. Dante’s an equal-opportunity collector and doesn't want it any other way. But he’ll have to adjust, because Boss Man has given him a new assignment:

Collect Charlie Cooper’s soul within ten days.

Dante doesn't know why Boss Man wants Charlie, nor does he care. This assignment means only one thing to him, and that’s a permanent ticket out of hell. But after Dante meets the quirky Nerd Alert chick he’s come to collect, he realizes this assignment will test his abilities as a collector…and uncover emotions deeply buried.

My Review

Do you know how much I love bad boys? I mean really love them? Well, I really Love Dante!!! He has everything I love; he's smooth, he's hot(and he knows it), thinks he's all that and more and is invincible. He has the cocky attitude and smart mouth that any girl can't help but find attractive. Oh, and did I mention that he is a demon and is the right hand man for the Boss Man down stairs! Definite Bad Boy!!!

This whole book is told from Dante's POV and it was awesome! Seeing how a bad boy like Dante thinks was so entertaining. All his honest and witty thoughts running around in his head compared to what he actually says... Just so funny!!! We learn a lot about Dante and his past, and even into the heart of him. He really is an awesome guy! However, he does have a job to do, sealing and collecting souls.

Dante's next assignment is a girl in Peachville, Charlie Cooper. The way Dante looks at a girl who is not very attractive and describes her is how I expect every popular/hot guy to do it; he looks at all the flaws first, not what is underneath the surface and into her heart. But somehow, throughout the journey, Dante's outlook on life changes and he starts to look at Charlie differently. Could Charlie be the one who unravels him?

Charlie cooper is an average looking girl, but she has had a hard life. She has dealt with the tragedies in her life as best as she can. She has two awesome friends and they mean the world to her. She has that no-care attitude which I liked. She doesn't let things affect her too much and simply glides through life. She doesn’t have guys look at her so she becomes quite flustered when the super-hawt Dante turns up and shows interest in her. I was often giggling along with the book, wondering what Charlie was thinking when Dante had her squirming! He just has that way of getting under your skin!

Victoria Scott has an amazing writing style! Not only has she written a whole story from a guys POV, but she puts so much wit and humour in it to keep you laughing! She also can change it up and pack it full of emotion when needed to as well. I loved this book and I cannot wait until Liberator comes out so I can get more Dante!! Yumm!!

I received a copy of this book from the Publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

How THE TERMINALS became optioned for Television

24 BONES is my latest release but I have a lot more in queue. Of all my adult work, the book I’m most excited about is THE TERMINALS. It’s about a secret government agency that uses the terminally ill to go into their respective afterlives to seek information from dead people in order to solve some real world issue. Cool, right? It’s currently being marketed by my amazing literary agent Gina Panettieri. She’s looking for a book deal. The television deal came another way, and let me say first, we’re not there yet. Television deals take a long time to put together, usually coming down to, who’s going to pay for the pilot. This story is about the initial option as it’s been reoptioned since.

A funny thing happened on the train one day.

I was actually coming back home to Ottawa from Toronto after pitching some producers there. So I was highly prepared when I noted the guy in the seat in front of me was reviewing raw footage. I could tell it was raw because it would start with those colorful, geometric screens that you never see anymore and he was reviewing it in an editing program.

I was excited and my hands started sweating, even though I had no clue who he was. But in the upper right hand corner of the laptop frame was his name and address on a little tiny sticker. Squinting, I could make out parts of it. Which I promptly Googled.

Turns out it was Jim Donovan, an award winning director.

Holy crap.

Are you a believer in fate? Things happening because they’re supposed to? To some degree, I am.

Now, having confirmed that this guy was legit, I didn’t tap him on the shoulder, no. I tracked down his email address online. And I emailed him, asking if he’d mind a pitch!

Across the WiFi, to the cell tower, along the Internet Pipes to his servers, and then back ... A few minutes later he started laughing, turned around, big smile and came and sat next to me.

And so started an awesome relationship, and how I first optioned THE TERMINALS.

So, want to option your book? Ride the rails!
