An alpha hero's attraction to the one woman he can't have could draw him into a killer's snare in the sizzling new novel from New York Times bestselling author Lori Foster
Charismatic bar owner Rowdy Yates isn’t the kind of man women say no to. So when he approaches waitress Avery Mullins, he fully expects to get her number. However, the elusive beauty has her reasons for keeping her distance—including a past that might come back to haunt them both.
Avery spends her nights working for tips… and trying to forget the secret Rowdy is determined to unearth. But when history threatens to repeat itself, Avery grows to rely on Rowdy’s protective presence. As the sparks between them ignite, she will be forced to choose between the security she’s finally found… and the passion she’s always wanted..
There are 3 books in the Love Undercover series, but I haven’t had a chance to read Run the Risk (book 1) as yet, but the glimpses of Rowdy that we had in Bare it All (book 2) was enough for me to be eagerly awaiting Getting Rowdy and I wasn’t disappointed at all!! He is certainly my favourite of the bunch because I like the bad boy type of guy and he is certainly that and has a great heart.
Rowdy had his eye on Avery in Bare it All and purchased the bar so that he could spend more time around her. We see early on in Getting Rowdy that he has invested a lot of money and time into the bar to turn it all around, but he has made no headway with Avery. She is one strong minded girl and is determined not to mix business with pleasure because she doesn’t want to be tossed away like the other girls Rowdy has in his life. But as always, their pasts come back to haunt them either physically or emotionally, and they are drawn together anyway.
Rowdy is such an incredible guy and does most things because he values the people around him so much. He even goes out of his way to protect those who are less fortunate and it is such an admirable trait to have. He is just the total package, gorgeous, caring and sweet. Avery is great too. She really enjoys being at the bar and she knows that she is attracted to Rowdy and gets very jealous of the other women that touch Rowdy. I was often giggling at her when she would wind herself up, and yell at her to do something about it!!
I enjoyed the chemistry that Rowdy and Avery have and the cat and mouse game they played whilst developing their relationship. With it being set in a bar environment, I felt that I enjoyed this storyline a little more than how things went down in the previous book. It’s a very popular bar now that Rowdy has cleaned it up and a pleasant place to be. They still get the occasional dust up’s but that would be common in a bar. There is still a serious twist thrown in that endangers the lives of the characters and it was entertaining to see that bring them together. The bedroom scenes were blistering hot and I will dream well tonight thinking about them! The introduction of a new character has me curious too, and Cannon is going to be another character I am eager to see more of! I love this series and I can’t wait for more!
