The dark secret Kayden has kept hidden for years is out. Worse, he's facing charges for battery. The only way he stands a chance against the charges is if Callie speaks up, something he'll never ask her to do.
Callie knows Kayden is going back to his dark place and desperately wants to save him. But saving him means admitting her secrets aloud. Callie and Kayden are stronger than they think, especially when they're together. Together they move forward, face their demons, and finally start to heal from their traumatic pasts.
The Redemption of Callie and Kayden is a remarkable sequel to the first book, The Coincidence of Callie and Kayden. I thought that the first book pulled on my heart strings, but the sequel, did as well, hell, I think it may have been even more powerful as we learnt more about both Callie and Kayden and we journey with them as they make their lives their own again.
Book 1 finished quite abruptly so I was keen to jump into this book to see what happened between Callie and Kayden. They are both struggling with what happened and they are kind of lost. Callie still has Seth and even Luke to ground her, where Kayden really has no one. But what they both have to deal with is very difficult and they have to find their own paths to deal with it and who they will turn to, to help them get there.
Callie and Kayden have a deep connection that only fractured people really know about. They are a sad couple but it’s beautiful to see them work through everything and I was rooting for them to find their happy places. Their friends are as awesome as ever, even though they have had their fair share of difficulties, you can see how close a bond that they all share.
Jessica has dazzled me once again with her amazing writing style. She is able to put real life, sad situations into beautiful stories that can wrench your heart out. The characters are all amazing and you feel like you know them personally. Luke has his own book next and I am excited to read about it, as this book was left open for him.
I received a copy of this book from the Publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
