Sometimes you have to lose yourself to find where you truly belong . . .
Most girls would kill to spend months traveling around Europe after college graduation with no responsibility, no parents, and no-limit credit cards. Kelsey Summers is no exception. She's having the time of her life . . . or that's what she keeps telling herself.
It's a lonely business trying to find out who you are, especially when you're afraid you won't like what you discover. No amount of drinking or dancing can chase away Kelsey's loneliness, but maybe Jackson Hunt can. After a few chance meetings, he convinces her to take a journey of adventure instead of alcohol. With each new city and experience, Kelsey's mind becomes a little clearer and her heart a little less hers. Jackson helps her unravel her own dreams and desires. But the more she learns about herself, the more Kelsey realizes how little she knows about Jackson.
I have read all the books in the Losing It series and I have enjoyed every single one of them. Losing It (book 1) was my favourite, but I think Finding It is just as good. It has a whole new setting and was a helluva fun read!!
Kelsey is an amusing character to read about. She is carefree and intends to enjoy her time backpacking around Europe, partying, making friends in every new place she heads to and often falling into bed with a new guy each night. This confident, glowing girl is just a front because she has issues that she has kept hidden from the world since she was 12 and no-one knows this side of Kelsey. When she makes eye contact with a stranger in a bar, her focus seems to shift, and soon she is on a new adventure and doing things out of her comfort zone. Jackson Hunt was a mysterious character. He kept his cards close to his chest and didn’t provide Kelsey much information about himself, but most of the time she didn’t push for it either. He has his own issues, but was also holding onto something that would affect the relationship that he was developing with Kelsey.
His fingers traveled from my ankle up the back of my calf. My muscles flexed on instinct, and I really, really just wanted to skip the witty banter and get to the part where his mouth was on mine. Or on any part of me, really. ~ Kindle Arc Loc 775
Watching the two of these characters was so entertaining that I found it hard to put the book down. There are sparks from the very beginning and they take their time exploring their feelings. Kelsey just wants to seduce him and move on in the beginning, but Jackson holds back. You can see that he genuinely cares for her and that he is trying to figure out what Kelsey means to him. At times I wanted to get these characters together so they could spill their secrets to one another, but they are both stubborn and hold back from each other.
“It’s just … I look at you, and I see a beautiful woman in the prime of her life, traveling to exotic places, with the world at her fingertips. But I think that’s just what you want people to see.” I glanced around me, panicked and uncomfortable, as he continued. “And maybe I love a mystery too, because I can’t seem to make myself stop thinking about what’s underneath all that, what you don’t let people see.” ~ Kindle Arc Loc 804
I liked the backpacking aspect of this story and seeing a lot of cities and towns through Kelsey’s eyes. We travel to many different places and there is a lot of fun along the way. Each place they visit builds a beautiful new memory for them to hold on to and they draw closer to one another.
“Come on, princess. Let’s see what kind of trouble we can get into.” I wanted to get into all of the trouble with him. Every kind. Multiple times preferably. ~ Kindle Arc Loc 1441
Finding It was told from only Kelsey’s POV and I liked it that way as there was a fair bit of mystery behind Jackson Hunt that wasn’t exposed until the end… and I loved how it was kept from me, although I had my suspicions! There weren’t many secondary characters that had an impact in this story and we only see glimpses of Bliss (book 1) as they are in different countries, but I enjoyed those small crossovers. It was a terrific read and if you have read any of the other books in the series you are going to love this one too!!
I received a copy of this book from the Publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
