Beginning after Lacrimosa and the short story Mea Culpa, Libera Me follows Zane and Aydan as they try to figure out who Nessa really is. Here's the blurb:
Description
What happens when everything you’ve sacrificed for is lost?
Aydan thought Nesy’s death would be the end of him, until he meets Nessa and his hope is restored. Could she be Nesy reborn? He is certain she must be. That is, until her lack of memories and incessant nightmares begin to erode his faith.
Zane is used to trusting his mind, his wisdom and his angelic senses. But these attributes are no help with Nessa. He has no way to be certain of her identity, no way to know the truth. That is, unless he listens to the one thing he has refused to acknowledge throughout his existence - he feelings for Nesy.
Blind to both angel and demon, Aydan and Zane must figure out the truth behind Nesy's identity before all is lost, Azza discovers the truth and the Beast is again unleashed.
The lines between good and evil have never been so blurred.

My Review
I won a competition and won the novella Dies Irae (#0.5) and Lacrimosa (#1) and I have continued on the Requiem series by reading the Mea Culpa (#1.5). So when I found the Book Tour for the next instalment in the series, Libera Me, I was so on board!! Christine has continued the amazing journey of Aydan and Zane in this book and of course she has left me wanting more!
Libera Me is an emotional journey for both characters in this book as they both believe that Nessa is Nesy reborn. But Nessa has no memories of any past lives and cannot believe that she is that person. But there are some things that she does that leads both guys to believe that Nesy is just hidden real deep in Nessa’s mind.
Zane takes it upon himself to help her remember. But Zane has to convince The Council of his plans, as well as deal with his own emotions. Aydan tries to convince her that he loves Nessa whether she has her memories or not. But Aydan has his own demons to fight and is not sure who he can trust anymore.
All of my favourite characters made appearances in this book too. Cass plays a big role, trying to anchor Zane. Gabriel and Mikayal try to guild Zane on the right path. But there is a major twist in the story and maybe a new player in the War between Angels and Demons!
Christine wove a brilliant story of love and friendship. She takes us into some dark aspects, but it all combines into an astonishing story that I found hard to put down. And she was able to shatter my heart by the end of the book. (I shed a few tears too!!)
I also had a vested interest in Libera Me as I got to name a character. He makes a small cameo role in this book and I was so excited to meet Tristan!! (Named after my Son!) But to top things off for the whole book, I was mentioned in the acknowledgements!! Can you believe it?? I was rendered speechless, and then I posted it everywhere!!
To Naomi ~ Thanks for loaning me “Tristan”; although nothing more than a cameo in this story, I have “seen” the story that lays ahead, and man...what an amazing character!
Now isn’t that mind blowing!! For us readers, not writers, it is a dream to get mentioned in a book.... So my dream has come true!! Thank you so much Christine for sharing Aydan and Zane’s story. It was truly incredible and I can’t wait for more!!
Guest Post
Throughout the tour I have included a deleted scene from Lacrimosa about the Seer Lorelei. Today I would like to finish up the scene and introduce two important people from Lorelei’s life – Ellie and Tristan. Before we get started, you can read the first two parts of the scene as follows:
And now – the final part of Lorelei’s deleted chapter, Hunted:
Golden light exploded through the shadows surrounding them. An angel – tall, majestic, fierce - emerged from the blinding light, sword drawn. “Let her go, Azza.” The angel’s voice echoed against stone ruins that surrounded them.
Lorelei wasn’t certain who scared her more, the demon who would drink her soul, or the angel that looked like he could kill him instantly.
The angel aimed his sword at Azzaziel’s neck. “I will not tell you again.”
Azza laughed, no hint of fear in his voice. “Mikayel. So nice of you to join me, brother.” He released Lorelei and stepped back as his fingers wrapped around the hilt of his own sword. “I see you are still a bit angry with me. Pity. I would’ve thought that we could get past our differences by now.”
Lorelei watched as Mikayel’s fingers tightened around his sword and his body stiffened. She ducked behind a broken pillar and steadied herself against the impending explosion.
“Oh look. You scared the Seer, Mikayel. Not very nice for an angel. And people say I’m the bad guy.” Azza’s voice dripped with disdain.
Mikayel thrust his weapon toward at the Azza. Azza spun out of the way and countered. The sound of metal scrapping against metal rattled the ground. The two circled each other, lunging and parrying. The flurry of movements accelerated as both stuck blows intended to kill.
Lorelei cowered down, her eyes pinched shut. She wanted a way out of the nightmare around her – a way out of her existence.
Before she could think to run, a new torrid of visions streaked across her thoughts. Images of Aydan stealing her soul, Nesy screaming, and the world consumed in flames. Her body shook with the anguish the images unleashed.
“You will never get away from me, little Seer. Never.” Belial’s threat hung in the air as the pictures of her future continued to unfold.
“Release her. Or I’ll end you now,” Mikayel bellowed.
“You’ll try no matter what. Might as well have a little fun, first.” Azza’s cold laugh reached into Lorelei’s soul, speeding up the kaleidoscope of images tormenting her.
Her world split open as terror filled the cracks. The battle faded away—every sound, every scent, until finally, nothing mattered anymore. Her thoughts faded.
And her world disappeared.
I hope you’ve enjoyed the deleted scene. I chose to use something related to the Seers as a way of introducing them to all of you. Lorelei held an important role in Lacrimosa, and while you only meet Ellie and Tristan in passing, they are no less important in the stories to come. So, let me introduce them both to you...
Born in a forest on a dark winter’s night, the twins’ (yes, they are twins) lost their mother to the Dark One weeks after their birth. The sister saved them both and sent them to live with extended family. Separated for their own safety, they did not meet until the weeks leading up to Libera Me.
Ellie was raised in a strictly human home. She never understood the visions that came to her so often, or the strange memories of snow and ash that seemed to invade her dreams. And she never knew of her twin.
Tristan was raised to lead the Seers in battle. Highly trained, his destiny was one of war—something he wanted to keep as far from Ellie as possible. He knew of his families connections to Celestium, to Elle/Nesy. He knew that his twin was named for that connection. And he knew that it was that connection that put her at risk. He’d already lost one sister, he was not going to lose another. But he hadn’t planned on meeting Aydan. Or Nessa.
Tristan and Ellie share a history with Celestium, one that may be explored in future series....maybe! ;)
